Practice begins in a little over an hour. Matt Reynolds, Chris Haldeman and I made the trip out of Texas to escape the heat. And as the old saying goes, "out of the frying pan into the fire". At least its a dry heat. First impressions. This altitude kills the little horsepower these cars make. The Colorado folks a nice as can be, they have offered to help get us up to speed. Chris has been fastest of the Texas guys but I dont think we have been up to Mark Franklins pace yet. Tight little track with lots of second gear corners, should be interesting to see if passing at race pace is difficult.

Good luck and have fun. I was set to go last year, then decided to go to Hallet instead for the 4th, and you remember how that turned out. My truck only made it to TX-OK line.....
HPR looks to be a fun track. Ott told me it was nice, and one worth making a trip at sometime to run. You'll have to provide your opinion.

Provisional Qual
Reynolds 2:10.0
Tolley 2:10.3
Franklin 2:10.90
Ross 2:10.91
Haldeman 2:11.0
I say provisional because Haldeman ran a 2:10.3 but timing and scoring did not pick up that lap. They are discussing the situation now.

Race tactics and track. It has several second gear corners that lead to lots of attacks in the brake zones.

And we have another race today. Qualifying at 9:00 mountain time, race monitor is running. I'll have videos Monday of Saturdays race. Internet is slow here so we could not upload last night.
We think we missed the setup and have made some pretty big changes to free the car up. The cars Qualified ok yesterday but they did not race well. I have a new motor but the same problem with mistery lack of power. New ecu is last thing i can throw at it.

Don't forget the "special grease" MPR, good luck today.
Not sure we brought any, but thank you Gale.

Congratulations to Matt Reynolds, he won 3 of the 4 races this weeked, both SM races and Saturdays E Prod race. Nobody had anything for him in SM. The locals got schooled on their home track by Matt who had never raced there. He's like the Ice Man from Top Gun, no mistakes.
Congratulations to Chris Haldeman also, he had a good weekend as well with two third place finishes first time at the track.

I Really had a great time this weekend despite some trouble with the EP car. Chris Campbell did an incredible job of setting the Spec Miata up for a clockwise track and no set up adjustments were needed the entire weekend! I enjoyed racing on this track which had a great mix of elevation, high speed corners, low speed corners, blind corners, down and up hill breaking zones, and a necessary rhythm throughout the course. I am glad that Chris, Michael, and John Phillips were able to come up and enjoy the dry heat with us. Glad to see the Texas bunch qualify 1,3,5 on Saturday and 1,2,3 on Sunday. Congrats to Chris on the podium finishes both days!
I would like to thank Chris Campbell, Danny Byars, Jim Johnson, my Dad and brother for working so hard this weekend on both cars. Thanks to Race Engineering and Bob Thorton for continuing to provide us with incredibly competitive engines and Carbotech Brakes for the stopping power.
Special thanks to Jesse Prather for helping us get the EP to be a front runner early in the season. We have had a lot of trouble with it but have managed 2 poles and 3 wins so far in it.
