With triple digit heat hitting Mid America (pun intended) the past several weeks I hope you are all staying cool and comfortable. However, it didn't stop the NASA CR Spec Miata gang from racing. MAM brought our largest SM class with a 5 car field and 6 total drivers (Chuck Taylor bringing his newly prepared '99 Miata that he and his son had to share - but could not race at the same time).

Saturday
In qualifying Dillon Dexter nailed the pole in SM by 2.1 seconds over his younger brother, Rookie Warren. Taylor was third followed by Joel Karns and Dexter clan dad Zane.

Race 1: Dillon made good use of his pole and took the win in Spec Miata. The real action was for second through fifth as Karns, Taylor, Warren Dexter and Zane mixed it up. You never knew who would be in which spot for a number of laps. Finally Karns and Taylor broke away and fought it out amongst themselves with Karns coming second, Warren Dexter third, Taylor fourth and Zane Dexter fifth.

Sunday
Once again in qualifying Dillon was on pole, this time by a not so huge 1.2 seconds over brother Warren. Zane found some speed and nailed down third followed by Chuck Taylor. Karns choose to sit out qualifying and start last.

Race 3: This time Warren and Dillon traded the lead 9 times in 15 laps with Warren taking the win by .213! Dillon made a last lap pass attempt that may have worked if the S/F line was 50 feet farther down track. Karns came from last to third followed by Taylor and Zane Dexter who had a fantastic battle for fourth and fifth. Dillion set a new track record of a 1:51:169 lap time. Leal Cleland was also on hand Saturday but running PTE but in Spec Miata trim - he came in 2nd in PTE.

MAM - August 4/5
Our next event is once again at MAM August 4 / 5 weekend. Please register early for MAM so we can get a accurate car count. We are once again expecting to have at least 5 cars with Chris Portoele making the trip from the Midwest. We are also hoping some new locals will join us as well.
