GoPro HD I run at the highest setting. You get approx 30 minutes for each 4 GB file that it creates (you go longer than that, a new file is created that is a continuation of the first file).

I'm not sure what the HD hero 2 does.

I run a 16 gb card. I've seen others run 32 gb.

Hope this helps,
Vick

I also use a 32gb card and haven't had any issues with size. The main problem that I have is that the Hero2HD can only record on the highest quality for roughly an hour to an hour and a half before it needs a full re-charge.

I use the R2 setting on the HeroHD. I think it's 720p, not 1080p. You need to consider what you are gonna play your video on. If you have an "older" computer, don't use the highest setting...it'll be choppy. Aside from watching it on a 52in LCD, 720p is great...and takes up less space on the card.

I thought 16gb was the max card size for the HeroHD (first gen). Is that wrong?

Domm:

Isn't the R2 setting a 170 degree field of view? The reason I use r5 is because it is 127 degree field of view....I was getting too fish eyed of a view with the old wide angle go pro which was 170 degree. It was great for rear view cam though.

And yes, the highest setting is awesome on a big screen TV.

View from go-pro set to R5...I think on youtube you can view this one at 1080p.

I guess you're right about r1-r4. They are all 170 degrees. That doesn't bother me, and the more action I capture, the better. r5 is 127 degrees. The resolution is great, but I've had problems with some devices playing it smoothly.

I have found that a 16gb will just about out-last the battery charge on a Hero HD or Hero2. 2ish hours of recording depending on temps etc.

Class 10 Kingston works great... http://www.amazon.co.../dp/B004TS1IG4/
