Cal Club just announced they were no longer going to submit to So-Pac News. Reasons given were time and money.

The Cal Club Board of Governors at their August meeting decided to discontinue Cal Club's participation in the SOPAC News. This action was based on two issues"Time and Money"."Time" being timely information disseminated to the membership, media and the general public; there are many existing vehicles in place for such communication."Money" previously spent publishing the newsletter can be spread to improve many other Cal Club activities that the Board felt added more overall value.

I think many clubs are following or will follow this model. I don't read any of the paper pubs that come with either my SCCA or NASA membership. Cal Club has a pretty informative site so kudos to Ceci and the rest of the gang for taking the initiative by using social media and email as a primary means of communication.

I know some of the old guard are still stuck in pre technology years but there is no denying that modern communication methods and social media play an even greater role in society. It's great to see Cal Club and many other clubs embracing the technology to better serve the membership.

Funny, but a smartphone or tablet is way better to have on the can.
