Can someone advise what wires I need to tap into to get a RPM signal at the ECU on a '95?

Also, any design tips for fabricating a mounting bracket for the TraqDash display would be helpful.

Bought myself an early B-Day present and don't want screw it up!

Thanks-Steve

I used a screw on the back of the instrument cluster that works well. I think It's marked TAC or T . You can follow the printed circuit to the tach.

steve, just did this on my 99 with the traqmate.

this link should have what you need.
http://www.flyinmiat...sc/revlight.pdf

I mounted my traqmate (old dash) by simply making a small aluminum plate and riveted that to my plastic housing that the steering column is covered by. i just used some double stick velcro and located the display just below my stock dash in my line of sight.
works great for me.

I appreciate the responses-

Josh: the link is great and the mount was pretty much what I was thinking of doing- just wasn't sure about the strength of the plastic. I was thinking of reinforcing the plastic but tend to over engineer from time to time.

Thanks again-Steve

I'm about to start hooking mine up too. I currently have a simple shiftlight connected to the tach signal. Will connecting two things to the tach signal be too much of a draw? Or am I good to go?

Steve, I haven't seen anything yet in the way of a mount but I'm still looking.
Don't screw it up too much!

True, except I'm using the "classic" dash. The traqdash is very nice, but a little out of my reach right now.

I am about to take on this same task. If anyone has fashioned a bracket for the Traqdash they like and wouldn't mind posting a photo, I would find it helpful to see it.

Is velcro enough to hold the unit in place or should I figure that ultimately, I should use screws? I like the velcro idea because I can more easily take the Traqdash with me.

Thanks.

I constructed my own bracket, but if i were going to do it again i would buy the bracket that John at 5X racing sells. it works and its quick.

I thought that I would post a picture of the mount I used. It is made from 1/16th aluminum angle stock from Lowes. Traqdash is mounted with velcro.

I am getting power and tach from the diagnostic port as suggested in the Flyingmiata shift light instructions. I used individual pins a mechanic gave me, but that leaves me with an open connector port with individual pins which I covered with a plastic bag. There has got to be a better way.

Does anyone happen to know the wires I need to tap to get oil pressure and water temp to the Traqmate?

To the best of my knowledge, you will need external sensors for this data. I have an AIM so I am not sure how to get it to a traqmate...

I can't answer as to the oil pressure and water temp for sure. I have my fuel pressure gauge and my air fuel gauge going though my Traqmate. Both of these gauges are electric so I was able to pull a signal off the sensors. After which I had to get with gauge maker as to what voltage values to assign to each. Glen or Ron from Traqmate can point you in the right direction. Their service is over the top.

After following the rev light install instructions prepared by FlyinMiata (linked earlier in this thread) to connect my Traqmate RPM line, my tachometer needle is behaving erratically (as are the RPM readings on the Traqmate). I started a separate thread on this:

http://mazdaracers.c...aqmate-install/

Any ideas?
