1.6L: Trying to pump the fuel out, (jumpered F/P to GND, ignition ON), fuel barely trickles out. I'm guessing fuel wasn't pumped out since I was able to start the car. (Allowed the F/P to run for several minutes until it stopped trickling). Am I missing something or do have a have a fuel pump problem? (The AFR on my AIM Dash has always read on the lean side).

Are you sure you have the jump right? Can you hear the pump? Mine will push the fuel uphill!

Believe we could hear the pump. It's clearly marked & as easy as it appears in the service manual, right?) There were two of us looking at it this w/e and it works like a "pump" on his 99).

Did not try removing the gas cap. (Didn't know the fuel system was that tight?)

We were wondering what needed to be done differently on the 1.6 vs the 99. That might just be missing info.

Depends on which side the fuel test port was installed,

Toby, I am pretty sure that your's is on the return line. You will probably need to put a small clamp on the line to the left of the fuel test port, looking at it from the passenger side. That or we can move it over to the supply line, which I believe is right next to the return line.

I've seen this happen before, and am pretty certain that you are on the wrong side of the system. The line/droid you want is the one next to it, the other hard line coming up from the bottom of the car.

Inerestingly, although because common sense says I should do so, while I take the cap off every time I pump the car down, it does not have any noticable effect on the rate of fuel flow coming out.

Brian, I believe you're right. And based on the replies, appears we just needed to add a clamp to the return line. (Mystery solved, hopefully).

I am pretty darn sure that you have your fuel port installed into the return line that goes from the rear of the fuel rail to the steel line. Switch the port to the other line and it should work. Just pinching the line will make it poump fuel, but will never work as a fuel pressure gauge port
