NASA CR Spec Miata group rolled into Hastings with a 7 car field. We had several new comers with Patrick Weber, Mitchell Taylor and Doug Low (learning how much more fun a Miata is over a Fiero). Patrick and Mitchell came over from the Rocky Mountain Region. Once again SM had the largest field.

Saturday
Qualifying was quick and dirty with Warren Dexter taking pole with his brother Dillon starting on the outside. Joel Karns, Lael Cleland, Low, Weber and Taylor followed.

Race 1:
Was a completed combined field with one green flag. Warren and Dillon got off to a great start getting past several other out of class cars. Karns was caught up and Weber and Low got by along with a 944 Spec car. For the rest of the race a battled ensued between Warren and Dillon with nose to tail racing. Behind them a scrap with Weber, Karns, Cleland and Low went on for several laps with Karns finally getting through and getting an out of class 944 in between him and the other Miatas. Warren and Dillon took first and second handily with Karns taking a distant 3rd. The real scrap was for 4th through 6th with Low getting past Cleland and Weber, and Taylor finishing up the field.

Race 2: Was based on Race 1 qualifying and the field got off to a great start with Warren and Dillion scrapping for 1st and Low and Karns for 3rd. Low was able to get past Karns in turn 1. Karns was able to get past him until he slid off the track in turn 1 and came back on behind him. Low held off Karns for a couple laps until Low then went off in turn 1 giving up 3rd back to Karns. Dillon went wide in 4th and was unable to make turn 5 and went off gifting 2nd to Karns who was able to hold onto the spot but was able to keep 3rd. Low was able to stay in 4th and hold off Taylor. Weber tried a late pass and was unable to make the corner and had slight contact and spun.

Sunday

Qualifying was similar to Saturday with Warren, Dillon and Weber, Cleland following. Karns handed over his car for Matt Rivard to race for the day and he as able to out qualify Taylor for the last 2 spots.

Race 3: Warren again was the class of the field and ran away from the field getting out of class cars in between him and the rest of the group. What ensued was a melee of 2 / 3 cars wide racing with Spec Miata and a 944-Spec car. 2nd was traded off with Weber, Dillon and Low eventually with Weber making his way through for 2nd, Dillon 3rd and Cleland 4th. Rivard and Taylor fought for several laps with Rivard pulling off early.
