I consider myself highly knowledgeable compared to the Average Joe. However, as far as most of you are concerned, I know little to nothing about building a car. I was wanting to know the correct steps involved in building a 300whp boosted NA without blowing it up like a redneck after 5 miles of driving. I have the actual turbo and directly related parts figured out. Where I am still very lost with... is what precautions to take in order to run high boost without the engine falling apart? I know as much as installing forged parts and all the turbo management, but will a bone stock 1.8 with forged internals handle this much power without giving up? If not, how do I go about building the strength to take it and what am I looking at price-wise? Sorry in advance if this is a stupid post. Any help and/or insight is greatly appreciated.

Actually, Miataturbo.net has a lot of great info. I was considering building a turbo miata a while back and found that site super helpful!

Having driven a 220rwhp turbocharged and a 250rwhp supercharged, there isn't anything a 300 rwhp will do except make more smoke, break more parts, and burn more fuel and money.

I liked the supercharged better, not because of the +30HP, but because the power was always there as soon as I hit the throttle.

The trans is the weak point of the car. 300 rwhp will bow gears out. The V8 conversion might be worth looking into.

Agreed. A customer's 250 rwhp supercharged grenaded 2nd gear, but this was stock original 80K mile trans with many weekends of autocross abuse. One "solution" is to make the tires the weak point of the car :)

A turbo car whose 300rwhp was purely for high rpm dyno show-and-tell would fare better. But the 220 rwhp supercharged will still outrun it and be more fun?
