From the other thread it looks like it's been an issue since 9/20. Yes it's 944, 225/50 and they run 2600, but...Problems showed up in the 25hr practice today...word is spreading quickly...especially with toyo in the paddock! What is strange is this is just now showing up...and all over...this tire has been out for months?

Yes, enduros at Laguna, Buttonwillow, testing and nothing, interesting.

I have very little faith that rotating the tires will solve this? We don't go the same direction all the time? Been wrong before, Time will tell. I saw the tires at PRI, they look really nice.
BTW, No such problems with the Hoosiers and they seem to have "significant amount of grip"
+1 !
Back to RA-1's before it's too late!!!

I'm not standing up for Toyo, just stating facts. I pray they find the issue and or this procedure fixes it. I worry probably more than all of you. I want safe, fast worry free racing just like y'all do !!!!

To me this is nothing more than a new tire issue for Toyo, I am sure they will resolve. You certainly see more tires than any of us.. but not collectively. I have NEVER heard of this on the Hoosier SM tire at all, in a year of being Spec tire it would be on the forum by now. None are perfect, but the forums bring faults out pretty quickly and I haven't heard anything like this on the SM6, perhaps in other sizes, other compounds and/or on other cars, I have no idea.

Or is it because of Hoosier that Toyo has this issue??? NASA became the before testing was complete.
It is Hoosiers fault the same way it was Andrew Cadells fault that I Totaled my car in Topeka 2007.. I was following him and didn't realize I was going faster than "I" could go through that corner,Andrew went through just fine, I lost it and popped wall. It is easier to laugh about now.. But really sucked then. Did I mention that I really hate that place?

Jim,
You'd be surprised, probably collectively too. But anywho - I have seen a few cases of SM6's, one in particular, was from a shop in PA, and Hoosier replaced them. It's kept low key I'm sure. I have seen many of the larger sizes of the other brands. Just saw a set of BFG's from a BMW the other day, with a small tread splice issue. He didn't think much of it. In my opinion it's a bit of a image issue. Hoosier for the most part has done a great job with every product they make so they become part of the "buddy club". Toyo on the other hand has had their share of "issues" over the years and maybe could have handled them better. So with that said, Toyo seems get a lot more verbiage (crap) than other brands. I hope for everyone concerned it is handled properly ( and so far it has) and we can all get back to regular programming.

With the other Comsumer Advisory with 15F and below you need a controlled enviroment of 68F for 24hrs before mounting.
Is it possible the RR are more sensitive to cold weather causing the problem.
Stored in a cargo container with lows in the 30's ??

No - Hoosiers are susceptible to the same. The cold is not that much of an issue, if the tires are not bounced, banged or dropped. I don't recommend storing them near freezing temps though. Cool, dark and dry. All R comps need to be reasonably warm before mounting them. You'd like to think that Toyo and Hoosier both heed their own advice.

AIM has alot of tires for the event stored in the shop or in a container or trailer.
They didn't see issues for Laguna enduro nor Buttonwilow when temps were higher.

There are 20 cars on the Toyo RR's at Thunderhill this weekend. One in particular is Emilio Cervantes, owner of 949 Racing and the 2012 NASA PTC/TTC Champ in the 949 Racing Super Miata. He has not had a single issue with any tread splices. He also has done a significant amount of prior testing on his own dime on the Toyo RR with excellent results.
Toyo invites anyone at the 25hrs to come over to the Toyo compound and chat. Ask all the questions you want!! They are there waiting for you.....
