For best result send head to someone that does sm heads on a regular basis. I have known people to have locals do this with poor results.

Kyle why do you say to use the old timing belt ??
New timing belt will stretch... old timing belt if its in good shape has already done its stretching. Guess I should also say check that old belt well, if its dry rotted with cracks all over it new belt will be better choice. I guess I always forget you guys are driving cars 10 years older than mine...

never rebuilt a 1.6 only the 1.8.
Oil pump
full engine gasket set
rod bearings
engine bearings
cam seals
water pump
assembly lube
oil cooler
Use old timing belt not new
New motor mounts while you have it out
Maybe something else I am over looking
All new hoses.
After rebuild is always a GOOD idea to put in a fresh gearbox as well. Hate to ZING a new motor with a missed shift from a crappy slushbox.
