I made a last minute decision to race at Sebring this past weekend (called Tom Fowler at OPM on Wednesday and asked if he had a rental car available. Tom graciously let me drive the car he had registered). 

 

This was a great weekend of clean racing and fun in the sunshine. The usual suspects from Florida were present and accounted for (Charboneau, VanVurst, Bolanos, Rollan, Collum, LaBounty, Mason, et al) as well as quite a few snow birds dodging the blizzard up North (Leverone, Mills, Gregg, Moen, Rothstein, Gee). Jim Pace was under the OPM tent giving invaluable advice. A lot of SE Div regulars were racing, too. 56 Spec Miatas started Race 1.

 

Race 1 had Collum on the pole followed by Bolanos, LaBounty, Leverone, and Jerry Garcia a/k/a Charbs. The finish was 

1.LaBounty

2. Bolanos

3. Jerry Garcia

4. Leverone

5. Machavern

6. Rollan

 

Garcia got busted by the Cops so everyone moved up a position. 

 

I was too far back to catch the action up front (a faulty cam sensor in qualifying) but here is my video where I moved from P38 to P24. Thanks to OPM and TiSpeed for a quick car!

Race 2 was gridded on Finish position in Race 1.

 

Finish Order of Race 2 was

 

1. Rollan

2. Collum

3. Bolanos

4. Leverone

5. Lowrance

 

Here is my video where I managed to go from P24 to P14 before the yellow flag finished the race. I think if we had one more race, I might have been on the podium!

Thanks to all for a weekend of clean racing and good fun in the sunshine. Tom Fowler and the OPM gang exorcised my electrical gremlins and I had a good car for all of the races.

Seems to be showing two videos for me. I checked using Safari, Firefox and Chrome, all under Mac OS X10.8.2. Not sure why you can't see it. I also posted them on tomhartracing.com under tracks/sebring.

Yes, we were using the Sebring short course paddock and timing equipment.

Happens every year about this time. With the 12 hour race coming up, the paddock area is filled with transporters as the pros are using the track (testing/photos/etc). Early registration on Friday was held up until they finished up and opened the gate to the Green Park area. Everything was laid out like a Club Course event, although the full 3.7 mile course is being used.

Whats wrong with painters tape numbers ? It was a brand new paint job and we hauled it down their just to learn the track So it does still needs some work. I was doing the Playboy Cup testing Monday Tuesday so wanted to get some laps under my belt.
