Profi II Hans advertises that you can reconfigure to a pull up configuration, but the instructions are clear at all. Anyone done this before? Do you just swap ends so that the latch is where the mount was and vise versa?

I have an opinion so I must be right

Hey Bruce,

Yeah, you just unwrap the lap belts and turn them around. However, one end is much longer than the other. The result of this is my adjusters ended up way down in the lap belt holes of my seat. I prefer a pull up, but I wasn't able to make that work with the seat I have.

Pull down still works well though with the buttery smooth adjusters. I usually leave my laps tight and just suck in the gut to latch them.

Thanks Rob, I've had a set that worked well for years in the pull down configuration, but just bought a new set and thought I would give it try. Great comments though. I may just bail and install them as is.

Anyone else have luck using these un a pull up configuration?

Bruce,

I was able to switch mine to the pull up configuration, it took some time to get the length right so that the adjusters were not too low as mentioned above. I found that the Schroth website has some pretty good instructional videos that helped me make the switch.

I've got the pull-up configuration as well. I found that the easiest way to get them tight is to feed the part of the belt that you pull on through the lap belt holes in the seat and pull with the opposite arm (or both arms). It's WAY easier to get them tight pulling like this than pulling straight up. I think it has to do with the angle of the belt in relation to the mechanism. Once I got mine the way I wanted them, they didn't need any adjustment again.

Thanks Greg and Cy!

The videos were what I needed. The instuction PDFs leave a lot to the imagination!

This ^. It also helps if you use one hand to push/feed the lap belt towards the adjuster while pulling up on the loose end with your other hand.

As an update, I re-configured my lap belts to the pull-up position and was not happy with the results. I'm running a Sparco pro2000 with the eye bolts screwed into the factory bolt holes. After the reconfiguration, the adjusters were getting hung up in the seat belt openings and I was unable to get the belts nearly as tight as I did for years with the pull-down configuration. With that configuration, I'm able to feed the loose ends through the openings and pull straight up to tighten. I'm sure this would work differently for other seats, but it didn't work for mine. Thanks for the pointer on the videos. Now I know how to re-web Schroth belts and could now probably do it with my eye closed :)
