At the Devil in the Dark last year, I saw a few teams using LED light bars.

I'd like to improve my teams night lights this year.  How have people's experience been with these?  Any suggestions?

Is it better to go with one big bar, or four little lamps so you can aim them? (two going straight, two aimed right and left to (hopefully) catch apexes.

thanks,

Vick

At this years 25hr we ran a bar on the hood(8-10 watt led's pointed forward) then added 2 directional 36 watt lights pointed at the apexes...worked great! Stock headlights were there as backups in case we had a failure with any of the added wiring and fuses. All 3 pieces were mounted to the same piece of steel which came on and off with 2 nylock nuts. The bar we found for a bargain on ebay(maybe CL...anyways brand new and 50% off) These were the apex lights...

Rigid Industries LEDs.  Great Products, they have a small flashlight that puts more light than most police spotlights, great for mounting to the weapon of choice.

Victor;

I'm happy to chat with you about options and such.  IM me your contact info.

But, LED will toss out a ton of light (at low amparage), which if weather conditions are good (no rain) will be ample.  But LED fails to "push" light far down the road, which if there is weather could be a problem.  Weekend-Racer.com and Enduro-Racer.com (me) recommends a combination of LED & HID with halogen back-up (as Ron suggested above) to get the job done.
