The one thing I dislike in Nascar is that stupid "boys have at it". I don't think they have a grasp on their fan base? Maybe they do, who knows. I would like to think that most are interested in good racing, not the wrecking, retaliation etc. I guess that sells tickets, but it definitely turns just as many off. IMO, NASCAR should take a hard stance on all the BS and penalize. If I were running that show, no one who spun someone to win would ever retain the win, they would go to DFL. Eventually the BS would stop. It has become common practice and acceptable. The BS that Carl Edwards pulled on Kesolowski a few years ago, he would have been sat down for months.

Changing lines happens frequently in SCCA racing. I may have seen it in Spec Miata races a time or two.

The biggest contributor to Earnhardt's death a few years back was the block he was trying to put on Sterling Marlin heading into 3. Marlin wasn't obligated to cut him any slack, and all those years of "intimidating" caught up to him.
Sir Sterling Moss had once said that the biggest contributor to the end of the "gentleman driver" era was the high level of safety in a modern race car; the incredibly small risk of injury tends to encourage last moment "all or nothing" moves like that.

With all the BS in NASCAR, it makes some in club racers think, that is how its done. The one thing I dislike in Nascar is that stupid "boys have at it". I wonder if Nationwide will cover the lawsuits.
I am sure there is a boat load of indemnification clauses in all the sponsorship agreements but any liability issues will fall upon NASCAR and the track and there insurance coverage as they are in control of the facility. believe it or not, this is not a good tort case from the plaintiff point of view. When you go to a sporting event such as a base ball game, or auto racing a fan assumes the ordinary risk of the activity. So for example if your at the track and the stands collapse you can sue because that is NOT an ordinary risk of going to a race. However, when you go to a baseball game you assume the risk that someone could knock one out of the park and hit a spectator in the stands.
However, it is not quite as clear as to weather or not a wreck that put derbies into the stands is a know risk of attending such an event. I would assume that that NASACAR will step up to offer those fans help with Medical bills and wage Loss. I sure hope they do anyway.

After 20+ years without a single claim, they "non-renewed" me the first time I even *inquired* about making a claim. Understand, I didn't formally request they cover me under the provisions of my policy - I simply CALLED them to ask if a particular loss might be covered.
But, they have plenty of money to sponsor golf tournaments, NASCAR, and TV commercials.
Great insurance company .... until you need them.

Sounds like you need to report Nationwide to the state board of insurance and your state attorney general for deceptive trade practices.
