I'm running the Borla SM exhaust without the add on muffler, and my bumper is beginning to melt. I am building the car for the SM class, and I was wondering if rear bumper cut outs were allowed? I went through the GCR and it did not mention it so I assume that they are not. I ran 98 octane for a couple sessions and my car started spitting flames out of the exhaust so I assume that is why my bumper is starting to warp.

Anyone have issues with their bumper warping from heat? What is your fix?

Thank you.

Your car must be running pretty rich! Turn your exhaust away from the plastic...and away from your local sound meters!

That's normal for the Borla exhaust.  One of my favorite side-effects of the Borla is the killer flames that errupt from the rear every time you lift or shift.

My rear bumber is pretty charred back there as well but I believe it isn't getting any worse (has melted as much as it is going to).  My hope is that if I burst into flames in the future someone will let me know.

I hope this helps.

Jaime

Car isn't done yet so I'm still good to go with 98 octane.

you know 98 Octane is illegal right ?

I'll give it a shot. Thanks.

I was gonna try adding a little more turn down to the end of my exhaust to divert it away from my bumper.
