Having trouble removing the bearing body from the hub with my 12 ton harbor freight special.
Soaked it, torched it with an acetyline/oxygen torch. Won't budge.
The work plate on my press is becoming U shaped.
Any suggestions?
Also, what do you guys use as a sleeve for pressing out the body?

I was able to pound mine out with a BFH. That is the only thing I could suggest. Sometimes a sharp blow vs. a gradual push can get things moving.

Not being a smartass, did you remove the large snap ring?

Ours came out on an original '91 with 125K using the proverbial BFH and the appropriate socket size. No sweat. The press is required to push everything back in but a big whack with aforementioned BFH did the job easily.

I'd be concerned that with all the pressure & heat you may have warped / oblonged the bore (seat) for the bearing... It happened to me - twice.
I would take some measurements before pressing in the new bearings.

BFH it is!
Yes, I pulled the snap ring.
What size socket did you find that had a 2 5/8 OD?

Once again, I see said the blind man.
It's real easy when you figure out where to push from.
A 20 minute job if you do it right.
Good thing I'm doing two sets so I'll break even on the stuff I've destroyed.
