NASA permits aftermarket top as long as it's identical to OEM. I have no idea who makes such a top, I've heard the name SnugTop.
SCCA allows OEM top only.
If it were me, I'd do a websearch for an OEM top and prepare myself to be reamed.

Hey guys, I need some help, I'm building a 1994 Miata into an SM and I need help finding a hardtop, if there is anyone willing to help I'd greatly appreciate it! If not, I have a question regarding the Hardtops, what kind of hardtop is legal for SM? Any aftermarket ones? Only factory ones? Do they have to be made with a specific material if the y can be aftermarket?
Thanks!
I have one I would sell for $850 in red its a bit chalky but I think it could be buffed out, or just repaint! it is OEM! Shipping not to sure about that part, if I did it would be at buyers expense.

Leave your business card on a miata you see, tell them you have $500 cash. You might luck out.
Anything under $700 is a steal. If it has latches they are worth $150 on ebay, so $850 then.
$1,000-$1,100 is going rate in this area for good paint. That's what the street driver's will pay in winter, and the SM drivers will pay in desperation mid season
Supply and Demand. Sometimes I have 5 hiding in my attic
oh yeah, and one more secret, a couple times I've bought hardtops with a car trapped underneath. OOH! Free Car! Best time to buy is fall, when the kids go back to school and need quick cash. You're exactly too early or too late.

I am new to all this so please excuse my ignorance. I bought a 99 in December. Been soloing it topless (car, not me). I can't sit in it with the softtop up and my helmet on. How do you SM dudes fit with a HT and a helmet? I was thinking it was your racing seats must be lower than my stockers but then I looked and saw the factory seat is pretty much as low as my azz will ever be. Different seating angle perhaps?
My race seat has a custom fabricated mount, and for all intents and purposes it is practically mounted to the floor. The rear "humps" that the stock sliders mount to have been removed to get the seat lower.
