I took a ton of heat to point out the ECU and Shock issues well over year ago.

The ECU was corrected for the most part with the '99 getting the timing mod. Now, just wait to see the wins pile up so the 1.6 gets help (if needed lol).

Here are the chock specs. Any shock shop can now change the fluid, rebuild and set to these specs, black magic of what passes gone.

Bilstein, Tri-Point and many other shock rebuilders can handle this with great service and fast turn around.

If I had to offer any advice it would be to make DAMN sure your shocks meet this spec!

JD, I had my shocks through tech twice and passed. Are these the same specs as in the past or are they different.

The specs have never changed, these specs have been used since 2006. SMAC/CRB decided to make public and publish on SCCA website.

My shock guy says the only way to do the work is to drill a hole and put in a schrader. Is that okay?

Good question Bruce!

The rule is still an "un-modified shock", so adding a schrader valve would be out of bounds. I cant speak for SMAC/SCCA but this is how NASA will be thinking.

It does say "Max" everywhere, so I'd assume 0.

I'd guess a new shock guy is in order. Personally I trust a guy who can do the work without drilling holes more than the guy who can't.

NO! NO! NO! No Schrader Valves. The rule did not change! All we did was publish the spec that has been in effect for years. If your guy has to use a Schrader Valve to rebuild a shock you are using the wrong guy!

Yep, a GREAT question !!

Would it be considered cheating if you have a built in Schrader Valve?

I have a shock question, my shocks have one racing season with lots of track miles about 3,500 track miles. how often should i have them rebuilt. is there a field test to get an idea if its time for a rebuild?

I'm sure someone else has a way to field test... But check to see if any oil has seeped/leaked out from around the shaft... if it looks like it has get the lot rebuilt.

Yes you can have them dynoed for a pretty reasonable price, i.e. Miatacage.com has a $100 dyno service. I have thousands of hard racing miles on mine and they still work just like new.

Can someone help me understand something: Why can't/wouldn't someone still have different shocks for each track's conditions that are built to less than the "max" number. In essence, that would make the shocks softer. Wouldn't that still meet the spec since there is no "min"?
