Do you do this for a living or are you  just reciting what you've read
somewhere? Nothing in this post makes any sense. Maybe you stayed at a
Holiday Inn Express?

You don't need to do anything for a living in order to be good at it.  Nothing in a race car is black magic, even brake pad knock back.  One needs to understand the lateral loads that cause pad knock back and counter those forces in order to eliminate them as much as possible.  Everything in my post makes sense, and I don't see anything wrong with Holiday Inn Express.

My update, for what it is worth:

Some bad aftermarket seals went into the marketplace, and may still BE in the marketplace.  My attempts to figure out who and where they came from met with stonewalling.  I quit using any of the sources that were associated with seal failures.  As best I can tell, Mazda's REBUILD KITS never used any "bad" seals.  The reman calipers themselves, I would not put on my car or anyone else's without going through them and replacing the piston seal even if it was new.

My advice:  Once you rebuild your calipers or install new ones, do not trust them until they have proven themselves.  IF they are going to fail due to the "bad" seals, they will fail under heat and pressure.  Work them hard before you trust them.  If you don't have time to develop "trust" in them, put Mazda-sourced seals in them.  If your seals are good and the piston goes in and out fine, I see no need to replace them.

You guys can always email me if you want - I don't check this board much in the summer :)
