Joe,
Thanks for the info which I passed along. Unfortunately contact wasn't made. Never-the-less I figured I'd post an excerpt from Tim's Facebook about the race and his experience. Perhaps others can learn from it in the event they have the opportunity to attend in the future or just want to know.
Wheel,
No renting here.

Le Mans was an incredible experience but I'm not sure it's an experience I want to repeat. It is an incredibly taxing event to attend.
From midnight to 4:00 AM I watched the cars fly through the trees from Mulsanne to Indianapolis and round the corner at Arnage. I slept in the grandstands and under trees all the while being jealous of those smart enough to bring a sleeping bag. I'm not sure I will go again. Maybe, if I gain access to a hospitality suite and definitely if I'm fortunate enough to drive.
This race will not be remembered for the records set or who
won. The 81st running of the 24 Heures du Mans will be remembered by the loss
of Allan Simonsen's life. In the opening 15 minutes Allen Simonsen had a big
shunt in which he suffered serious injuries. A few hours later it was announced
that he passed away. It is getting a bit tiring being involved in and loving a
sport where it is just a matter of time before the next person is crippled or
killed. Rest in peace Allen Simonsen and the same for you Jason Leffler.
At times I was happy, tired, sad, or feeling sick. Here's a pic from a happy moment!
