. . . but you can screw up the day for a lot of other racers.

This is the start of Sunday's Daytona SARRC Race. Alex Belanos on the pole followed by Jeff Labounty and Danny Steyn. I was back with the hoi polloi and started P25/55. Watch as a car tries to go from P35 to P10 in T1. It is called the "Kill Zone" for a reason.   I was lucky but many others were not.

None that I am aware of. Even some of those racing under his tent did not know who was the cause. Resulted in a multi-lap double yellow for those lucky enough to survive the carnage.

Curious question, why when one of the good ol boys does something off the charts is everything considered ok, but when someone that's not a good ol boy does something he/she is an _ _ _ _ _, fill in the blank. :noidea:

Dunno, but I think it's the same reason why when some people get caught cheating it's sorta swept under the rug and when others get caught they are reamed a new one on public forums.

It's not what you know, it's who you know.

The more I look at that the worse it gets, WOW.  Those cars were in pristine condition, I imagine there were many very unhappy people.

Bench - we are all "Good ol boys" out there, when something dumb happens everyone knows it.  There are racers and then there are internet racers, two different things.

Keith, you seem to be one of the good, good ol boys out there. With your shot above ^ my coment is, hopefully at 71 years young you'll still be interested in car racing and drive a race car on a race track now and then.

Denny, the five letters/blanks could have been any number of blanks.

Dare I guess this:

When one of the good ol boys (i.e. experienced and generally faster driver) does something dumb it is expected that they know they did something dumb and they learned from it and won't do it again. Not always the case but assumed.

When "not a good ol boy" does something dumb they usually don't realize they did it, don't learn from it, and will be a repeat offender. Or at the very least that's the perception so it is assumed he/she is an "IDIOT"?

So where does "loss of talent" and "brain fart" or "just racing mid pack" fit in to this?

Any video farther back, did somebody get in to him?

Looked like he just went for a an outsides pass with two in the grass in a place where the track narrows in rather brutal fashion.  He had a ton of speed on the cars ahead of him, so I understand the desire to attempt it, but the track just isn't wide enough for it.

I wouldn't call this a "tried to win in turn 1 incident"  Those usually involved locked brakes.

You got me,

I first saw the white car in the inside get rear ended by the wall, then watched again and again saw the green car coming up the middle.

You talking about the orange car on the grass?

So can we agree on what car, or cars first to get on the same page?

Can I get a slow mo? (and some popcorn)

People are raging over the white car I think.

So let's see if I can get DD to spout rules and regs.

White cars not at fault.

Car behind, not a full car length, but behind should of lifted for "racing room"
