It was nice meeting you in person... You seemed rather civilized for a caveman ;-)

Did you not see him drag Jenny from the grid by the hair and drag her under the grand stands???

Another great weekend in the books!!  Lots of very tough competition both days.  Very little drama and lots of fun and great weather.

Congrats to mark Drennen for the win on Saturday.  I was part of the 7 car train in the beginning of the race an oh my... I had to close my eyes and hope my car stuck just to keep up!!

Congrats to Joey Bickers for the win on Sunday and the winner of the 2013 West Coast Teen Mazda Challenge!  Well done Joey!

Thanks to all the came out to play!!  We will see all of you and I hope a few more in October!!  Still have free entry for those that have not run with us at NASA in the last three years.

Anyone that wants to rent a top 5 car and is under 5'9" pm me and we can work out a deal (I will be in my not so shiney new 99 by next race I hope!).  If you come from east of the Rockies I cut you a better price!!  Just ask the caveman how much fun he had!!!!  If you want a budget car to rent I can do that too!

Thanks Craig and NASA Norcal for a fun 1st weekend of NASA racing! Though my son only drove Sat due to prior Sunday commitment, the car managed to do both days ^_^  Great talent up front with a lot of tight clean racing. Drennan was on fire Sat with a strong drive to a walk away win.  Joey Bickers did the same today with new track configuration that was shorter and opened up a few passing zones...I think most liked it! It was winner take all with the teen challenge young men. Bickers, Charlie Hayes and Tyler Vance, started 1,2,4 I believe and it was winner take all. Congrats to Joey Bickers on the championship and to Charlie and Tyler for a putting up a great fight.

Unfortunately, Joey Jordan had car troubles and ended up again in a strange car on Sat.  His finish I believe made it virtually impossible for a Championship so he withdrew today. Not the way you want to end a 1 month road trip all over the country but I hope he has his head held high for what he did accomplish!

I had a great time with Caveman, James and Nova Browns.

Big thanks to Ron for coming through with everything.

Thanks to Alberto coming by Saturday,

Charlie and everyone in the pits.

Like everyone has said, great racing tight competition along with the teen challege drivers.

Great drives by all of them.

Nice to have met you Drennen, Webb and the Browns.

First, Thank you to the entire SM and NASA community. Everyone, whether I have agreed with them in the past or not, has contributed and enhanced our program. We owe all of you.

Caveman - It was great to meet him in person and Kyle provided invaluable experience and expertise to us. He is one of the crazy characters of the sport that makes racing FUN! Thanks for everything Kyle. Don't let him fool you though, through all the hair there is refinement. He will be joining us for the making of a reunion video of California Guys and is probably already picking out a brightly colored speedo in Vegas for the shoot.

Johnny D - One of the nicest guys you would ever want to meet. Johnny will do anything for you and is very pleasant company. His local knowledge was an asset. Johnny is one of those guys that you can imagine having as a friend for life. Thank you for everything.

Alberto - I didn't get to spend a lot of time with Alberto but the time we did was nice indeed. I had the impression that there was a wealth of knowledge he possessed and he had a way of asking me questions about our program that caused me to think.

Ron Alan - Ron and I didn't have a great amount of time together but I felt a kinship with Ron. There was something about Ron that gave you an immediate impression that this guy knew what he was doing and looked at all aspects of a racing program. Ron earned instant respect from us, but never made me feel less because of it. Just his presence made me want to do better and earn his respect too. I hope to spend much much more time with Ron looking at video and talking about our boys driving and everything that goes into that.

Craig Evans - I never had a chance to find and meet Craig in person but my son did and that was important to us. I cannot thank him and NASA Northwest enough for their hospitality and welcoming attitude towards us. They put on a great event with a nice dinner on Saturday night. Thank you NASA NW for giving us this opportunity to come drive with you at one of the best tracks in the country.

And thank you to a couple of guys you may not know, Brett Becker and KG Tucker. We owe much to these two and I can say that we wouldn't even be close to where we are without them. Both live in my city, Brett not more than a handful of blocks away. He hears my son every time I send him down the street to shakedown whatever I have been working on with the car!!  KG I met one day when I saw his Sm in a parking lot while he was getting dry cleaning in it! Probably driving with flip flops. KG is the reason we are in SM and has been the biggest supporter of us and a dear friend. Brett is the regional SM director and is a racer! He loves cars, racing and family (not necessarily in that order). One of those guys that you know is a gear head. Fortunately Brett and I have families or else I could see many a long night with empty bottles of wine and videos of races. If you haven't connected with the drivers in you immediate area, you are missing out on a huge advantage not to mention the camaraderie. I remember recently all of us having sushi, looking down the bar there was Brett the organization guy and meticulous racing professional, KG my engineer and general knowledge on everything person, Todd Mckenzie my head builder from Mckenzie Racing heads and myself. All local. And all enjoying it. It just doesn't get any better than this with the same sex.

And finally the competitors. NASA NW drivers were absolutely beautiful to watch on their hometrack. Drennan was in a league of his own Friday and Saturday. Then when the other local fast NW non teen drivers showed up I really thought that the teen shootout drivers would be unusually off the podium. But surprise surprise, the teen drivers got faster and faster and by Sunday, not a grey hair would be found on the podium. And while I am talking about the teen drivers; the teen drivers take a lot of shite from others as being too aggressive and crazy. But I think it is time to give them the credit they deserve. These guys have driven side by side with each other all year with few issues. They have the balls to drive 2 and 3 wide through any corner, and the skills to do so cleanly. The top 4 drivers for Teen Mazda challenge SW put on a show this year and somehow I doubt that there has been a better championship in TMC that went to the wire like this. Great job to them all and congrats to Joey Bickers for taking it.

Man I love racing with all of you guys!!! At least racing vicariously though my son with you guys. :) Thank you all for the privilege.

First off I had a great time even if I was running mid pack.  The track was really awesome and fun, I have never seen a track that was built specifically for Danny Steyn.  I arrived to drive a car that didnt get the setup done on it, for some various uncontrllable reasons, I figured we could get it close with just some adjustments on the fly, but that was just never to be had.   I had plans to do alot more socializing but with working to get the car to handle it just never seemed possible, as well as with the schedule having us testing and racing at 5pm.  then working ont he car into the dark.

Johnny helped turn wrenches in our quest to get the car right, as even with the car not being any where near dialed in he ran his personal best lapon test day in the last session.  Which was kinda cool.

Big thanks to Alberto who came up to the race and worked on quite a few things we had going on with the car, he wasa very cool guy, and as james said was very mechanically inclined, I certainly appreciatedhis help.

As for the toyo RR, it is nowhere near as gooda tire as the hoosier, maybe I shold have just run the hooiser from the start...

I met a lot of really great guys, Mark Drennan thanks for the track notes and video, Charlie who I already knew thanks for the info before the race as wel as hunting down parts for me, and "sorry the teen challenge didnt go your way but keep your head up there will be more oportunities for you going forward.  Craig thanks for welcoming us to calif, and taking care of all the registration!  Taggert, I am pretty sure you look like way more of a caveman then me!  Sorry didnt get a chance to drink copious amounts of liquer with you.  Jammie Florence, what a likeable guy, and has a pretty nice little rental opperation going there, look forward to racing with you again somewhere.  Gehringer 1 and 2, did get to hae some beers with those boys and Drennen one evening between wrenching on our various projects.  Joey Jordan helped me with the shock change, there is one kid with the right attitude, things were far from going his way this weekend, and you could never see any dejection shown, he took it all in stride, Next year is gonna be your year!!!!!!  Tyler, didnt get to talk to him much, he likes to pass me under doubleyellow lol  and he is always smiles all day long, him and his dad looked like they were having a great time together.  Ron Allan, who let me drive his car on sunday afterwe had a transmission failure.  He surely didnt have to do that, but In general there was a comeraderie of most of the racrs there helping one another, it is a culture that is lacking many places I have gone.  Kyle L, as usuall just love t be around that guy, drives like a mad man and is the most calm dude you will ever meet outside the car, wished I had more opportunites to race with you.  Brown's, you been on an odysee now for 2 years, but it seems it is really starting to take shape!  Nova Brown that kid wants it bad, I had my doubts about this before meeting you, I have none now!  You want it just as bad as any of us do and that is starting make a real difference!  I was proud to be able to have helped you this weekend dispite all my own troubles.  Keep it up and you gonna be tough to beat in short order!  Foto stars, I still cant even say yoour last name, but you are a funny cool guy!...

for any of you guys on the east coast, or midlle of th country, I would highly suggest makeing a trip to california, to race.  It was defiintly a great experience, nd I now have so many new friends!

Also other than an introduction to Joey Bickers, I had no real interactions with him but BIG CONGRATS on grabbing that teen championship!!!!  That was no small feet, with group that showed up to race this weekend.

I am sure I am leaving someone and somethign out, If I was lucky enough to meet you, I appreciated the personal hand shakes and well wishes.  Wish I had more time.  I felt like I was an adopted californian if only for the weekend!

Thanks again everyone, and I am so damn glad I mde the trip!  Hope to do it again somewhere else in calif next year!!!!!

It was nice meeting you guys.  I don't have a NASA race license so I just stopped in to try and help JohnnyD and THE one and only Caveman - and have some fun hanging at the track with friends and racers.  Met a lot of cool new people like Kyle, the Brown family, the Jordans, Richard.  I felt like I was running around chasing parts half the afternoon but at least I got some exercise.  I was hoping I'd just be sitting around drinking Johnny's beer. :D

Also ran into some old faces that I haven't seen in a looong time. Hadn't seen Pendleton or Mairani since Art of Racing when I got my race license 3 years ago.  Man time flies...

Also learned some new tricks from Kyle.  Always love learning something new. :)

Wish I coulda attended on Sunday but the new house has me busy swinging hammers and pissing away money on stuff made of wood.  Pffftt.  More fun to turn wrenches - or better yet RACE but...  At least I get to bang shit with a hammer caveman style. ;)
