So, I was getting significantly greater outboard pad wear on the drivers side rear brake than the inboard pad. Hmmm. Lubed up the pins, checked installation of pads and headed out for a race at Road America. I drove like crap, somebody hit me twice in 100 yards, but otherwise the car performed well.

After getting home, I inspected the rear brakes again and found the the top pin attached to the caliper mounting bracket had broken off. Damn, I was lucky.

Replaced both brackets.

Yep - I launched a brake caliper this year because of that. The pins bend, then break. At RA or any track with serious curbs, check often!

And for crying out loud, stop driving through yards! :D

Once the slide pin gets loose and enlongates the threaded hole in the caliper bracket it'll continually loosen up on it's own no matter how much locktite is used.  I've got one like this right now and I'm retiring the bracket after this season.
