They announced at the drivers' meeting that they are handing out fix-it tickets for bodywork that isn't pretty enough for tech, essentially.

Can someone please elaborate, what do they consider not good enough for tech.

Remember what mine looked like? That's probably not good enough.

Seriously just because the bumpers didn't match?  My drivers door is all beat to hell does that mean I can't race? Mike, Chris anymore info I can get.

Great stuff!  Proud to be a WDC member.

Have to go back and race there again someday.

They were non-specific as to how enforcement actions would take place, and what constituted 'not good enough.' All they said in the drivers' meeting was 'some of these cars look pretty used up.' and then rattled off something like 6 cars that needed to go talk to tech, logbooks in hand one assumes.

They are writing up body damage based on a subjective rule of 'it's a little too banged up,' I guess. I know you want something more specific than that, but that's literally all that they told us. Sebastian and a few others in this thread were in the meeting, so if I've missed something, please chime in.

I do know that I dislike subjective and arbitrary rules. Also, how is this sort of action going to help get participation back up?  I'm probably too new to really have an opinion on all of this. At least, I probably don't fully understand the issue. But...yeah. Annotating people's logbooks with fix-it orders demanding money and time be spent on cosmetic fixes instead of, say, tires just makes the gap larger between the haves and have nots.

I would recommend reading the other thread in the link that Trussell posted. They seem to go a little more in depth about the rule and some of the reasoning behind it.

You might consider the impression that damaged/ratty looking racecars leave on potential future racers.  If you're looking for a cost-effective place to race and a lot of cars look like they see regular body damage, that will certainly deter some folks from joining the fun (and may encourage certain other types to participate further compounding the problem...)

Paying for body work also deters body contact.  Nothing like a fresh paint job to clean up the driving! :)

Wow thanks for that thread. Does anyone know how many SM/SSM cars were called to tech because there are some banged up cars in our classes.

Does anyone have a drivers door they can spare? LOL

Wow after missing the last couple of races things sure have changed, I WAS looking forward to get out there in OCT. but maybe not.

I don't know the exact number for either SM or SSM, but I don't think it was too too many SM's, just a few, I think something like 5. Anyone can verify/correct that number if it's wrong. I wasn't in the SSM drivers meeting so I wouldn't know about them. If I were you I would come out anyways, all they will do is whine and say to fix whatever you have by spring, so it's not as if it will impede with your racing.
