I have watched the first three episodes of the Dempsey series on Velocity and have the following take always: (1) SM racing is a better racing value then any of us ever imagined; (2) Andy Lally is a sports racing god; and (3) the National SM Runoffs week with all of the inevitable man drama would be much better TV then the Dempsey series. We are really lucky to have this wonderful distraction in our lives. Good luck to everyone this week.

I actually have enjoy the show so far, I was thinking he had a pretty easy road. I guess if he wants to spend his own money like we do, he has an easy road. I think after lemans he should get a spec miata and come race with us. He would have less stress and more fun with very good competition. I can say from some of what I have seen in real life being a pro driver is not always what we fantasize it to be. It always looks glamerous in movies, till you see how hard it is to land a ride, pay the house payment, find sponsor money and often coach guys like me.

Yes, he is certainly experiencing a lot more lows then highs. It's a tough sport. A lot of things have to come together to win at that level. Money, a good team, the right car, talent and some luck. It makes you realize how incredible Red Bull and Vettel's success over the last four years is. But when you win, there is nothing like it!!

In my opinion that show is a joke.  They should film all the Drama from the Spec Miata races.

Actually Bill, I am thoroughly enjoying the show. Really impressed that Dempsey did not execute more creative control in what footage they used. In many cases it does not paint him in a pretty light. Not many celebrities would allow some of those very telling truthful scenes to be aired, so I am duly impressed.

Best moment for me was when Michael Avenatti was pitching to Joe Foster and Patrick that he could bring in all the money, and you could just see what Joe was thinking as Avenatti was talking. No way he could hide his body language. Very telling, and now to see this week that Dempsey is suing Avenatti, it makes it even more interesting. Looking forward to the next episode.

I am sure they have better footage than what they show.  I was just diss-appointed, I guess I expected more.  On a good note Rush will be in the theaters soon.

Agree with Danny, Joe's body language was priceless. So even if you have Patrick Dempsey on your team, its really really hard to raise sponsorship dollars. So much for me quitting my job to start a race team. :). I wonder if with the merger of ALMS and Grand Am, sportscar race teams can ever achieve some degree of the financial success of NASCAR teams. The top nine NASCAR teams are all profitable and all are worth over 100 million according to Forbes.

Here at the runoffs, Joey Jordan (the young California hot shoe) is running Tom's rental car, so we have Joe (his dad) and Jim (his uncle) under the OPM tent, and have been getting the inside scoop on not only the entire Dempsey racing program, but also the making of the TV series as well. Very cool. Some fun stuff, and nice to hear it from within the team.

No. (I'd be amazed if any of the teams broke even)

Face it, all America knows about motorsports is NASCAR, and even it is struggling. Ball games - that's where the money is.

Anyhow, the 4 episodes are airing again back-to-back on Velocity on Sunday so my DVR is set this time...
