I am biased, but this is my answer.
Talk to drivers and ask them why they picked the cage they did. If the first answer is that it was cheap, I would walk away. The first answer should be "it is safe". The second answer should be "it improves the cars performance by making the chassis stiffer" The third answer should be "my wife likes it because it is safe"
The harddog cage meets minimum requirements, but does not exceed them.
There are several excelent cages available. Most are semi custom installs. But you get what you pay for.

When I bought my car, it had a hard dog cage in it.
After watching a friend have a pretty bad crash that had the cage fail.......I went and had a custom cage installed and bought a better seat.
As was said earlier, it meets the requirements. That being said when that big hit comes, the last thing you want to be saying afterwards is "wow, I wouldn't be as banged up if I had spend an extra couple of bucks on a better cage".
Also, a friend of mine up here was involved in the "not so fun one" wreck at watkins glen a while ago.....his bolt in cage ripped out of the floor.
