"Dear CRB folks,
I'd like to propose that, effective immediately, all 1999 and newer Spec Miatas MUST race without a hardtop. This will ensure performance parity amongst the Spec Miata fleet and will allow 99+ owners to save $1000. Let's do it for the children.
Thank you for your consideration.
Very Respectfully,
Every NA6 and NA8 Spec Miata Racer"

running with no top also has a huge implication when it rains. now once you're moving one would think that you're not going to get too wet. the problem is the wind buffeting the water onto the INSIDE of the windshield. talk about good times to be had during a race.....lol
just run the top. the car looks better , has better aero and wont make a mess of the inside windshield during a rain session.
we have used ones for sale.

What if your OEM hardtop glass is broken and your butt feels sore form the thought of spending $300 for a dinky little rear window. What about using a lexan rear window? I understand it is not original material as stated in the NASA GCR but has anybody really been disqualified for this? I can't imagine this giving any real advantage except maybe to your wallet...

This is illegal and I can't speak for NASA, but this will get you a DQ in SCCA. There is an advantage to running lexan. Think weight.
