I was working on the car yesterday and needed to disconnect the plug for the speed sensor. It wouldn't let go and in the process of fighting with it, I pulled the wires out of the sensor.  :cursing:  I can pull the sensor I have in my orginal trans as a quick fix and replace that one when I have that trans rebuilt. Question is, if I pull the sensor will the trans fluid drain out? If so, I can wait until I pull the trans for a clutch job.

I have never done it to see but the level of the fluid is such that it likely would run out. You have a few options, you can pull it and swap it, after take off the bolt holding it, it just pops out and in a second or two you can pop the other one in. or you can drain and refill the trans. or you can just leave it unplugged no speedo till you fix it.

Wasn't sure if it was compartmentalized in case at all, but yes, it looks like it is low enough on the trans that is would drain the fluid a bit. Guess that's why the sensor is sealed with an O-ring... The trans needs to be removed to pull the light-weight flywheel and the fluid changed, so I'll just wait and replace the sensor at that time.
