The "Majors Festival" has been dropped leaving the Laguna race a regular Double Race weekend.  It wasn't a full Majors so it didn't count towards conference championships or Runoffs qualifying starts and was generating confusion.   "RQ" in the below indicates it's a NORPAC Runoffs Qualifying race (which is *all* races including the Majors at Thunderhill).

2014 Draft Schedule

Date                   Track                          Event

February 21-23    Thunderhill       Drivers School

March 8-9    Thunderhill       *Double Regional  RQ

March 28-30    Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca       Double Regional RQ

April 12-13    Thunderhill       Major

May 17-18    Thunderhill       *Double Regional RQ

June 5    Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca       Test Day

June 6-8    Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca       Double Regional** RQ

June 21-22    Thunderhill                                 *Double Regional RQ

July 5-6    Sonoma Raceway Sonoma Sprints       Double Regional RQ

September 12-14    Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca       Double Regional RQ

October 6-12    Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca      SCCA National Runoffs (run by Topeka)

Oct. 25-26   Thunderhill                     Event type TBD

*Thunderhill Rewards Regional Championship Series

If you are out of town and want to come test for the Runoffs, the June event has a dedicated test day prior (with loud time which is incredibly rare) and is always a great weekend.  Definitely plan on that one and if you want something closer to the national championship, the September event has usually some of the best weather all year long.

If you aren't interested in the Runoffs hype (Oct 6-12 at Laguna) then you can run the Thunderhill Rewards series.  In the last numbers that I saw, the series winner for Spec Miata will get around $3,000!  That distribution isn't final but we're not talking about $50 - this is something you will definitely want to run.

Is it only Thunderhill rewards series(6 races) for regional incentives? Is there incentive for regional points in total? If so, is it only the winner or do both pay out to how many places? While you're at it Brian, can you recap Major pay outs per event and any payouts per total Major points? Hoosier contingency for any of the above as well??

Tow mileage just went up!

Any idea when/if the new Thunderhill West course will be raced, or better yet, the full Monty 5 miles of TH?

Thunderhill Rewards series and cash payout is for Thunderhill races only - those denoted above.

Regional championship will be calculated like always - including all Regional races (not including the Majors at TH)

Majors payout is available at SCCA.com, do your own homework. :)

Thunderhill West is currently taking deposits for May I believe.  It is weather dependent but the horrible drought we're going to suffer this summer is offset by the construction moving quickly right now in the dry.  We've definitely discussed a grand opening where we race the full thing but we aren't committing to anything until we have construction nailed down.

Hey Brian, I was trying to make sense of the "Majors Top 10/National 50%" path described on the following SFR page:

http://www.sfrscca.o...ntent/view/9511

That path mentions satisfying "Top 50% of mid-2013 National points". Does that requirement mean that you were in the top 50% in 2013 (LAST YEAR) as given by this list?

http://www.scca.com/...tional-0906.pdf

Or does it mean that your 2014 national points (whatever those are) need to add up to at least 10?

Thanks!

-Juan

Juan - the latter.  Your 2014 points need to meet what was the half-way point for 2013.  They do this so people can know when they are "in" without getting sniped like an Ebay auction.
