I believe I had memory bleed over from the IT rules as well. That said, the EGR functions only under a narrow operating window, such as highway cruising, to lower catalytic converter temperatures. At WOT it does not function, so on the track even if the car had a catalytic converter, it is not in use. Without the converter it's not needed. On a Spec Miata it serves no purpose and no performance advantage is gained or lost with retaining it. Retaining emissions controls on a race car, especially when the primary control, the Cat. converter, is allowed to be removed is ridiculous. The SM rules should be updated to allow removal of these now useless emissions items. We need to worry about enforcing the areas that actually provide a performance advantage or that are safety concerns, not piddly stuff.
