There is no specification for SCCA club racing.

What James meant by his post is that there are no spec's for the name. It appears that most have a 3" to 4" high lettering
Good luck...

Arial is pretty popular and easy to read in a rearview.. 4" may be too big, I usually make them in 3". Most people go all caps. Any color other than white is hard to read on glass.

Not required. I gave up on it after 3rd windshield.
Say it with a Swiss accent: Ya, yoo chust yooz ah nize helvetica.

I ordered 4" and when they arrived I decided they were too big so I didn't use them.
I forget how much I paid for them but I'll sell them for half price.
Probably a limited market for them, though. :-)

Thanks James for that info. Obviously people are doing SOMETHING. Anybody else?
What I mean was simple. There is absolutely no rule or requirement on this. You may do what you wish and what appeals to you.

For areas that get a lot of rain might I suggest the text "horizontally flipped" so you can place them on the inside of the windscreen.

Call Dave at Advanced Autosport - they've got pre-made packages or can do custom for you if you want. He did my package (semi-custom) and I couldn't be happier.
For what it's worth, I believe his windshield lettering is 3" and mine is white vinyl. I forget what font it is.

Now that is an excellent idea that I will have to steal.

You can put painter's masking tape on the windshield and take a look at it from all angles. When you decide how long and high works the best, just go to any quick sign place and tell them you want "your name" to fit in that size area.

Some people, like me, are doing NOTHING.
Do whatever you want. If you find the need to have your name on the windshield in pics, then put it in huge, bolded, underlined italics.
I know the cars around me while racing by colors and numbers. I rarely need to look at a name on the windshield.

Maybe I'm fortunate but I've never had a vinyl sticker affected by rain.
put it in huge, bolded, underlined italics.
All caps or upper and lower case?
