Fast Track to Full Competition License

What a deal we have for you!  SCCA has announced a streamlined Permit-to-License process for 2014 to get you into the game faster than ever, and the Washington DC Region is offering a this-year-only package of incentives to make that process even smoother - and easier on your wallet.

First, get a jump start on the season and a leg up on the drivers' school with the Performance Driving Experience (PDX) March 15-16.  Any novice permit holder who attends both our March PDX and our Drivers' School will receive a $100 refund from the region.

Second, we have a heck of a Drivers' School planned for March 29-30, at rollback pricing - only $199 !  We haven't seen these kinds of prices since the last century!

And finally, any novice permit holder who completes the DC Region's 2014 school will be charged an entry fee of only $199 for each of the region's first three MARRS events at Summit Point (April 12-13, June 21-22, and July 12-13, 2014) - same pricing as Drivers' School!  You can go from novice to fully licensed racing driver in only a few short months.

Registration for Drivers' School is expected to open on or about February 1.  Registration for PDX and MARRS events generally opens one month in advance.  Go to www.wdcr-scca.org to register.

No Comments??  Drivers school for $199 (or $99 if you the PDX before it).

That is crazy cheap. The school will likely sell out for production cars so make sure you get your registration in.

It is a great deal. I forwarded the wdcr link to someone I know who is considering renewing their comp license after about a ten year break.

I think that's a great deal for anyone in that region (area) looking to get a license quick and cheap.  Awesome idea!  Hopefully other regions catch on.  Watkins Glen usually has 5 SCCA races in a year, with a school at the end of the season.  It would be nice if the local regions tried something like DC region.

I think most on this forum already have licenses.  Personally, I think SCCA would be wise to embrace HPDE's and cultivate those people as future competitors.

DrDomm,

HPDE experience already counts toward SCCA licenses.  Time Trial log books (including HPDE) can be part of the previous experience that allows waiving of second schools.  In Midiv we have drivers with previous track day experience, who take a one day non-tradional school on a Friday and are racing on Saturday.

p.s. this school sounds like a great deal and should be very popular.

If you go to the school you can register for the first three home weekends for $199 each weekend a huge savings as well.  The region is really pushing to get people involved.

Mike -

I only got one SCCA sanction last year due to work.  Can I sign up and get the same school & 3 race discount?

No.  But I can help you get a waiver to renew your license.

Entry fees will stay below $300 for a regular MARRS weekend.

I have been racing Spec Miata since it started and have been a regular on this site since then.  While we get the occasional help a newby post, we need to be directing more people to come here for information.  I did a drivers school with the WDCR in the fall and then completed my schools at Roebling Double.  At that School in my class were:

Steve Bertok - Went on to grow Panic Motorsport

Matt Pombo

Chris Tamburo

Gregg Downer

And many more I know I am forgetting.  We all met on this site (actually the previous generation of this site).  I've been thinking maybe we need a new to the class section?  Where you would be barred from answering by telling someone to use the search feature.  When I came here there was nothing to search! I just wanted answers.

Is anybody else still around who goes back to the old racernetwork.com website? I know Jim Daniels was there and maybe the Clown. Shannon and DDG where there but they are not active on this site. But anybody else go back to 2000 with Spec Miata.

I bought the car Ken Payson won the first ARRC SM race in 2000.

I did my School at NHMS in April 2001, still racing but not in that car although that car is still running on the original motor.

Car is for sale :-)
