I'm a current SM owner and have been seriously considering buying a NC car to drive around until I'm ready to turn it into a Spec MX-5.

Besides having a 6 speed and limited slip diff, the specific 2006 car that I'm interested in buying has the Dynamic Stability Control with traction control option.  Will the DSC be difficult to fully disable / remove when I want to turn this thing into a Spec MX-5?

Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide.

You can disable DSC thru the wiring so you do not have to disable it from the switch however your brake bias "front to rear" will be different then cars without DSC..I have converted cars from DSC over to non DSC...Haven't done one in a year so forgive me if I leave something out...Here's a list of things to change out...Pump,front harness, front brake lines, master cylinder...Hope this helps.....

Thanks Tom, I appreciate the help and prompt response.

Interesting, didn't contemplate the change in the front to rear brake bias as a result of disconnecting DSC.  Would I be better off looking for a car without DSC?

It just depends on how cheap you get your donor car...I try to get non dsc MX5s when building a race car however most cars that have 6 speeds and limited slips have DSC but they can be found without DSC..Our enduro car has DSC but has been disabled and you can tell the difference in braking compared to my ex Playboy Cup car that did not have DSC...Most 5 speed cars do not have DSC but do not have limited slips ...feel free to call me at the shop at 256-309-0492 if I can help in any way..We get donor cars in often and can provide one for you if needed..

Thanks Tom, good feedback.  I will certainly keep you in mind as I move forward and may give you a call to discuss the difference in brake "feel" between the DSC and non-DSC cars.

My MX-5 street car has manual trans, limited slip and DSC.  There's a button on the dash to turn of DSC.  Could it be that simple, press a button?
