NA competed race at Sebring without any transmission issues. Asked wife a few days later to back it out of garage and it stuck in reverse. ( I know common issue ). I got a little manly with the shifter and it is now grinding but not engaging in any gear. Jacked up car on left side, pulled reverse switch and tried to do the screwdriver trick on the 5/R rod but it is in the correct position. I'm guessing I should not have gotten rough with the shifter and went straight to the shifter rod with the screwdriver..

Anybody recommended in Central Florida for this transmission repair ? I also have two 99 transmissions I would like to get refreshened....one has 120k and the other 160k.

Forgot to add... The shifter is out of reverse and moves freely like its in neutral but will not engage any gear. When the car is pushed, you can hear gears slightly grinding.

Pull the shifter off the top of the tranny make sure that little plastic cap is on and not deformed. I had one fall off and it would not moved the rods enough to put it in gear.

Thanks, the shifter parts are undamaged. I even took the shifter base plate off the have a look and nothing seems broken there either.

I'm thinking it was hung in reverse and I manhandled the shifter enough to get it almost out of gear but not quite....the 5/R shifter rod can not be moved ( from the threaded switch hole) ....it does feel like its in the neutral position when I probe it with a short screwdriver.

The transmission is still in the car.....for now.

Saul has rebuilt a couple of transmissions for me and a friend. They've worked out great. We used truck freight from MA to Ohio. Was about $200 each way for 2 transmisisons on one pallet.
