I'm sure I could have, but the motor looked like it would swing forward quite a bit, and I didn't want to damage anything because I neglected to disconnect it. It was a first time for me, so I took it slow. The bumper was going to come off at sometime during the build, so I just took it off early.

Glenn, looking at your boom picture, could you have extended the boom further??? My hoist is a 1 ton with four length adjustments of 1 ton, 3/4 ton, 1/2 ton and 1/4 ton which is 500 pounds. The engine and transmission don't weigh 500 pounds. When my hoist is set for 1/4 ton the distance from the cylinder center line to the center line of lift chain is 40 inches. Lift engine and transmission out with bumber in place and no touch bumper.
