I don't know if this was brought up on the old forums, but is anyone interested in starting an SM league on GT5? Similar to forza, have certain mods to increase HP/suspension, and leave damage on of course
.

This might be reason enough for me to buy a ps3.

A Spec Miata series has already been started on GT Planet. We have been practicing every night from 9 pm eastern until about 1 am. It's been super fun so far. I have seen the room full with 16 drivers. When that happens, someone could open a second room with same specs.

Rules:
We are running the '89 and '91 Mazda Miata from the Premium dealership only. This keeps things close and allows the racers to customize the cars paint/wheels to their liking. Drivers have already found the '89 to be faster than the '91 model (weird..I know) so a majority will be running the older model.
Cars are set up using the Official SCCA Spec Miata rule book HERE.
Allowed modifications are as follows:
Oil Change
Racing Cone Filter
Sport Exhaust
High Flow Catalytic Converter
Stage 1 Clutch
Chassis Stiffening
Weight Reduction Stg. 2
Plastic Window Replacement ('91 models only)
Full Racing Suspension (Stg. 3)
Soft Sport Tires
Any modifications to the engine, differential or the transmission are NOT ALLOWED. They are to remain stock.
Front Aero Modification (lip spoiler) is also allowed, as is any wheel of your choice. Spring rates are regulated in Spec Miata to 700 lbs/in (12.5 kgf/mm) front, 325 lbs/in (5.8 kgf/mm) rear, for those interested in staying true to the series.

The GT Planet Spec Miata league is only using the two premium Miatas available from the new car dealership, 89 and 91. There are other used car versions. It might be interesting to open up a league that allows all of them. That way we won't miss out on the fun of parity discussions that we all so love on here.
The used cars will need to be allowed an engine refresh. The 1.8 cars won't be able to add any engine/ehaust tunes to stay at 138 hp. They are at 135 with just the engine refresh and weigh 100 lbs more than the 1.6 cars after the allowed weight reductions. Haven't found a used 99 in the game yet, but have seen others with them. I bought a premium 89 and used 89, 95 and 97. Gonna play with each and see if I can spot any differences.

Did a test of four cars. The Premium 1989 Miata wins with exact same suspension settings and 135-139 hp. Back to back test for fun on Trail Mountain.
1989 Premium Miata from dealership 137hp and 1:44.095 time
1989 Standard Miata from used car lot 138hp and 1:46.331
1995 Standard Miata 139hp and 1:45.317
1997 Standard Miata 135hp and 1:45.129
The series settings that the GT Planet guys are using are really competitive. Build a car and join in on the fun.
