Hey everybody,

I am new to the forum. And am looking to get behind the seat of a miata. Any miata will do, but here is my idea-- I live in Santa Cruz and have done two different track days (one with NASA and one with HOD). I would like to go to Thunderhill with Nasa and run in the A or B group for HPDE, which is basically just a track day with optional instructors. The problem is that my car that I was using an Alfa Romeo 164, is way too difficult to find parts for and expensive to work on. I do all the work, but when you can't even find performance brake pads for the car-- you start to realize it isn't a good track machine.

I am 23 years old, friendly, smart and looking to make friends who have the ability to throw me a bone and let me take a car out on the track. I will not thrash equipment and really this is a way for me to develop my line, track skills, and be on my way for the next SCCA driving school. In return for letting me use the car on the track-- hoping to get out both days (Sat and Sun) I will help out with any and all pit duties you need for the car. I am an apprentice to a mechanic in Santa Cruz, mostly for fun and to earn spending money-- so, I can help out with whatever needs done (or take lead).

The limiting factor for me is financially, as I can't blow all my money on one track day or I won't be able to go out again. Therefore, the arrive and drive option for a spec miata is completely out the window. However, if I was to crash the car (which unless someone hits me or a wheel falls off won't happen) I would cover the cost of the car.

Even if you have just some parts miata that runs I'll take that out. Or even if it isn't a miata but you have a car that I can track that'd be awesome. I wouldn't mind doing some work before hand on it like brakes and finding tires etc., so please shoot me any and all offers you can think of.

Thanks,

Max

Max,

Doubtful anyone who rents spec miatas is going to throw you a "bone". And though you cant afford to "rent" on top of paying the HPDE fee...you say you will fix the car if something happens?? I sincerely doubt anyone will take that statement serious. But if in fact you have the money to buy a car...there are several around. A few as low as $7k. PM me if you want more info.

That said, there are a lot of generous people around the track and in the spec miata community. I have been known to let people drive my car on a hand shake...but you are going have to come out, hang around, help, watch...basically make friends. Good luck!

Thanks for giving me some advice. From my experience people on the track have always been super kind and everyone tries to look out for each other. I know that there is a very cool community aspect to a lot of the racing and track days, and I want to get in on it.

I am going to travel soon and I don't have room to own my own race car / track car. I can help you out on the track with any and all duties, and hopefully make some friends.

Any car that would be decent to run on track I would be interested in. I am not asking to take someone's prized spec miata out for a roll no questions asked. Just putting the word out there and seeing if someone can help me out.

Thanks
