Registration is now open for the WMR "Majors at Grattan" which will be held on 8/23, 8/24 (wmr-scca.motorsportreg.com).As usual for WMR, prod/GTL is running by itself (make me look good and make this group large) and we're group 3 of 7 (not too early, not too late).Dayle Frame(WMR Competition Manager)
Dayle, I know you want the Spec Miata car count and the Spec Miata/STL double dippers count, but really ^. Edit works well.

I'm assuming this is Dave Dewhurst....but even if it isn't, here goes.
As you can probably imagine, as Race Chair I post this message to about 15 forums of this type. Instead of reinventing the wheel each time, I post at the prod site, copy it and then paste it to all the rest. And, yes, I forgot to remove the inside message to the prod/GTL community.
In addition, I use my position as Race Chair to give preferential treatment to my colleagues. We are ALWAYS right in the middle of the schedule. Anyone that wants my job can do the same.

I thought that was you, homey.....Melinda and I had a great weekend and she was treated MUCH better this year than last by the CHI folks. Great weather, great lunches, close racing....it was all good except for the SM melee. I had to talk a guy off the ledge in impound. He forgot to remember (on Fathers Day) that his son walked away from the accident.
All in all....a really nice weekend. it was nice seeing you again and we'll be back for the Cat Nat next month. Any chance you're coming over to G'Man or Grattan?

Dayle, no one else is going to read this post, correct. I did enjoy Mid Ohio, IRP, Gingerman and Grattan in the past with my RX7 but today my Spec Miata (driver) lap times are not fast enough for me to justify traveling. It's always fun seeing folks again and again, that's what it's really all about. How much fun is it drinking beer at home with one's race car.

A very good point....but have you seen my car when she's drunk.....she's a hellcat. And Italian at that!
You can always come out and volunteer. A lot of drivers don't do that and its a habit we should all start getting into. Work in T&S (in air conditioned comfort), tech, F&C (with me), registration (with a bunch of saucy gals)....you name it. Try it, you just might like it.
Back to the thread....

Dayle,
I won't be at the Majors, but I look forward to running the "Original Unrestricted" double regional next weekend! It'll be my first time at Grattan...looks like a fun track!

Eight entries so far folks.....17 at our regional last month and 23 (?) at GMan a couple of weeks ago.
Where are the usual suspects? Rowley, Bednarz, Goncalves, Piku, Campbell, Anderson, Slattery, Luckritz, Shaw, Webb, Todaro, etc.?
There's lotsa reasons to come out to this one:
1. Let's be honest.....Grattan is more fun to drive than GMan.
2. Bragging rights and Conference championships are on the line.
3. HUGE award ceremony and BBQ dinner on Saturday night (free with entry).
4. Last Major at Grattan?
5. No event at Waterford so WHRRI folks can come on over.
6. I put you in G4...right in the middle of the day, not too early, not too late. I give and give......
I could go on, but why? You know you wanna come tho this one so just do it.

Dayle,
Wish I could have done the previous races you mentioned and this one, but there have been changes in the financial status of the family since we talked at the Sprints and it is not looking like we will be making it to much if any races this year... Really miss racing the WMR events. Hopefully next year at MIS and Grattan (major or not).

Due to a lack of SRF (group 4) and DOT (group 6) entries, we are revising the schedule. We will be combining these two groups, re-ordering the run order (so SM and STL do not run back-to-back) and adding a practice session for all groups. Here are the changes:
1. Group 5 (SRF) will be combined with group 6 (STU, STL, T3, T4). Each group only has eight entries as of this writing.
2. The combined group will now be group 6. Big formula and the sports racers will be group 5.
3. We will shorten the qualifying session from 25 to 20 minutes.
4. We will add a 15 minute UNTIMED practice session.
5. Sunday's schedule remains unchanged. Two e-prac sessions followed by feature races.
Note that this allows for more track time for the folks who signed up early.
Registration is still open and can be found here: wmr-scca.motorsportreg.com

Have majors races at more desirable tracks and younwillnhave more entrants ... I have no interest in graten or gingerman for next year... Fewer majors at better tracks are needed.
Scheduling (late in year) might have a lot to do with the low entry. Ya know Kyle, a lot of people call Grattan one of their favorite tracks. It's got some unique features, nothing else like it.

I agree with all 3 of the last posts.
This major is too late in the season
Grattan is a blast
Grattan does not deserve a Major's race
See you all there

I think sometimes it is forgotten that small tracks can teach you alot. I feel I have improved over the years because of tracks like Grattan and my local track Waterford. Show your local track some love

Just to make my point; I do not feel Blackhawk deserves a Major either. And that is in my back yard.
