The Majors event at Portland International Raceway is less than three weeks away.  With the runoffs on the West Coast this will be a big deal for Oregon SCCA.  Already we have two Spec Miata entries from as far away as Arizona.

 

There has been a question on the schedule.  There are two qualifying sessions on Friday, a combined practice Saturday and then the sprint race Saturday, and the main event on Sunday.  From Bruce Wilson, grid positions for Saturday's sprint race will be based on the best time from either qualifying session on Friday.  Grid position for Sunday's main event will be based on your best time from either the two Friday qualifying sessions or Saturday's sprint race.  The practice session Saturday morning is very short and it is a combined session with SRF.  Finally, ProDrive (www.prodrive.net) is offering a test day that Thursday the 3rd.  Move it is at 6 AM Friday.  Unless you sign-up for the test day in which case you can move in on Thursday.

Thanks for the info Randy and congrats on the RD position. Are the Pro, south or both pits being utilized for the race? I'm sure it has been posted somewhere, I just haven't seen it.

You got it - North Paddock (Inside paddock). We will be working on a paddock map. A big turn out is expected so space will be limited. We're working on how to best optimize the space.

Is everyone okay parking in the grass by T11-12?  It's actually nice and cool in the summer.  I'll make sure PIR cuts the grass low.  The only real drawback is you'll need to bring small pieces of 1x1' pieces of plywood for jack stands and a 4x2' for the jack to slide across.  Otherwise the jack digs in and bends the pinch welds.

 

Just asking.  Not a big deal either way.  The biggest problem is we move in on Thursday and about half the paddock is taken up by autocrossers and their cars until about 10pm.  It's going to be a bit of a cluster but we'll figure out a plan.

As long as there is no forecast for rain I think it would make a great Miata camp.  We'll fire up the smoker, turn on the music, set up the trap range, and open a few Mountain Dews!

I may take you up on the offer for some setup tips with the Solo DL I am running in a B-Spec Mazda 2.

There has been a slight schedule change.  No session times have changed but T3 is now in Group 8. 

 

Also, move in for non test-day participants has been moved up to 4:30 PM Thursday.
