I am installing a shit light on my 99 Miata.  On the Raptor site I found:

·  1990 Mazda MX-5 Miata L4-1597cc 1.6L DOHC Tach signal: at diagnostic connector, yellow wire with blue stripe.

·  1994 Mazda MX-5 Miata L4-1.8L DOHC Tach Signal: at diagnostic connector, black wire with white stripe.

·  2002 Mazda Miata MX-5, L4 1.8L DOHC engine Tach signal: is green wire with orange stripe at data link connector (driver side under steering wheel). Set the shift light on 4 cylinder mode.

·  2005 Mazdaspeed Miata 1.8L Turbo: Tach signal: at pin "3O" (connector 3, pin O) at electronic control module. Green wire with orange stripe also routes to the instrument cluster.

Nothing is mentioned about the 99.  I assume (this is where I always get in trouble) that the 94 through 01 all use the black wire with white stripe to attach the green wire from the shift light????

Any constructive input would be appreciated.

Double check yourself. The flying Miata shift light manual has all model years wiring diagram. I'm not at the shop or I could tell you.

Found it on the Flyin Miata site:

Looks like I can tap into the Green with Orange stripe.

Thanks!

So now that I look at the wiring on the car I see that there is no green with orange stripe.  There is a green with yellow, but it goes to the speedometer side of the cluster.

Does anyone know which is the correct wire to tap into on a 99 Miata?  I already have the original gauges out so I was hoping to tap into the wires at the cluster.

Should be the green with orange or yellow (hard to tell on such small wires) on the black connector that leads to the gauge cluster.

What in the world is a "shit" light?

I had to cause nobody else picked up on it. Now leaving due to having no useful input for this thread....
