I recently realized this race is this weekend. I'm free and would love to join the growing list, but my "crew" are all busy with other commitments. Anyone willing to adopt a lonely driver?...just need some peeps to hang out with, maybe someone to check some tire pressures...I'll bring some beer.

Domm I'll be there with all my friends (by myself) which is my usual MO anyways. I've got tools, etc if needed and Planet Miata will be there is parts are needed. But I can't hang out afterwards as I'm staying with family in Ocean City.

About time you posted on here, Amy! Love the avatar of your new car...it ain't a '94, though.
BTW, I was just thinking about one of the signs of alcoholism...drinking alone. I guess there must be some condition associated with racing alone.

Maybe. But I win more often when I do that.

Looks like a good field full of friends, but I'm bummed Vick isn't in it...or Mike Lo.
What's SMT?

What's SMT?
In the CenDiv it means Spec Miata Tire, DOT tire in the Spec Miata size.

IN NEDiv SMT is also Spec Miata Tire. The class allows one to run any recent Toyo or Hoosier tire.

Same here, but I guess I don't see how it saves significant money to buy the permitted tires (Toyo RA-1, Toyo R888, Toyo RR, Hoosier SM6 and Hoosier SM7) as opposed to just the Hoosiers. Maybe I'm missing something.

I'm guessing it's for guys who run mostly NASA but only a few SCCA events during the season.

Sorry Domm, I will definitely miss racing with everyone this weekend, but my consolation is I'm starting my Alaskan cruise vacation so I'm not complaining.
Hope to see you at the Glen in September, I want another crack at catching you! lol!

Domm,
If others haven't clarified for you over the weekend, the SMT class is there to remain legal with the National Office regarding "regional" races involving SM.
The Hoosier contract now requires not only the Majors series to run the SM7 but also 'regional/divisional' races that are feeders for the Runoffs; in our case any NEDiv Championship Series races.
For the Pro-IT series (which was ran this last weekend also), the rules permit any previously-legal SM tire (RA-1, R-888, RR, SM6, SM7) to run and earn points & finishing awards.
So in an effort to not exclude anyone (or at least try and eliminate any potential ball-busting/sour grapes via protests over not running SM7s as required), the sups incorporated the SMT class.
Yes it does seem a bit unnecessary and adds to the 'one more class' philosophy it seems we try and abide to but it does provide an outlet for those who wish to participate legally.
HTH,
Brandon
