Anyone have any extra toyo tires stickers they can bring me? Or know where I should get them? Registered for toyo bucks but don't have decals for this weekend.

AIM Tire at the track should have them, (across from the main building) at no cost, MRLS, Sonoma and possible any toyo dealer too.

No teen challenge contender in there yet?
Who wants to drive my car? It is very familiar with Drennans rear bumper :)

Thanks for letting us run the ol trusty#40. Saturday was nuts with Joey going from 21st to 1st in one lap and wining the fire shortened race. Sunday leading flag to flag does not suck either!

Here is the DFL to first in 1 lap!    21st to first!  My favorite part is when he knows he is in third by turn 6 and lets out a pure joy wahoo scream!

On a weekend I was likely going to skip I got a last minute call to bring up a few things. Instead of unloading from the trailer things i needed I just hooked up and took everything with me...car included! This turned out worthwhile for more than myself  :)

As Q1 ended on Sat(5 mile track!) I see the usual suspects on top...Drennan, Jordon, Dodge, Evans. 30 minutes later Joey comes up and says the new 01 is broke and can he drive my car...absolutely!! He gets permission to go out in a DE session to do a quick shake out before starting DFL in the afternoon race. With some gas and my 18+ heat cycle tires(and a new tranny :scratchchin: ) he went out and ran the same times he had put down in qual. His response when he came in after was "we are good...change nothing"

Joey came into the weekend tied for the lead in the teen challenge points with David Dodge. His goal in the first race was to just get as many of the other teen challenge kids as possible...getting back to David starting on the front row would be a pipe dream at best.

Well the video speaks for it self...last to first in 5 miles! A little luck but impressive at the same time

In my mind though, race 2 was even more impressive. He took a borrowed car. put it on pole, and lead wire to wire. Thus ending Drennans streak of maybe 12 consecutive wins? Huge congrats to Joey for a job well done!!

Here's my first lap from Saturday's race. Unfortunately went in with a massive headache and couldn't capitalize on the podium opportunity given to me. However, had tons of fun leading a race for the first time! It's a great video and funny that Joey and I reacted at the exact same point on track. Full video of that race (all 10 minutes of it) will be up on my channel soon. Footage from the rear bumper cam before the green flag drops is pretty cool too.

Full video from Sunday's race here. Some great footage during that race, including getting airborne over the bypass on the first lap, Will Rodger's car spewing clouds every time we got to the last hairpin on the new track, and some good bump drafts and battles with Nick Sommers. Felt a lot better that morning, and was able to push hard during the race. Definitely getting quicker in the car and looking forward to Sonoma!

Nice videos Matt! I would think when you found yourself in the lead you forgot about your headache?  :)

Your skills are improving quickly as are Nick Sommers(15 yrs old!). Your car definitely was getting a little hot...Nick was probably wondering what the heck you were doing! I bet Wills car(Joey Jordans 1.6)used a quart of oil in that race! Was putting up serious smoke screens!

A gallon of adrenaline and testosterone to the brain did seem to magically rid me of my headache  :spin: ,but I was just not on my game that day due to a poor night's sleep. I also discovered the merit of wearing earplugs on Sunday, they help get me into zen mode.

As for the remainder of the year, is next month our last race? Why no race groups in October? My tires were on their 17th heat cycle during Sunday's race and they felt good as new, so if next month is our last race weekend I will just use those again and wait to buy stickers for nationals.

Impossible not to like that kid (Even if he's going to UCSB), congrats Joey!  I think Ron needs to have all of his drivers start signing that car, it may be in a collection one day!

Great fun this weekend running the 5 mile for the first time.  As usual, it was filled with great racing, and great people.  Congrats to Joey for the amazing drives on both days, especially the run from the back in Ron's car.  Serious talent in that kid coupled with great support all around him from Joe and Jim.  I can't wait to see what's in store for his future.

My car was having some handling problems and I'm looking for some feedback to see what setup changes I can make to improve.  The car is understeering like crazy, especially on my older set of tires.  These tires were on their 17th cycle during Sunday's race.  I've noticed they were having lots of wear on the outside, but plenty of rubber still on the inside.  At 15 cycles, I flipped them on the wheels and ran them during practice Sunday morning, and then for the race Sunday afternoon.

Here's a short clip entering the new track.  You can see and hear the understeer.
