There is a lot of VERY PISSED OFF chatter out there with drivers seriously considering WITHDRAWING from the the upcoming VIR SARRC, which is the first event of the 2015 SARRC season, due to the perceived disadvantage of running against drivers powered with engines that are NON compliant. Some are talking about NOT running, and some are already talking about protesting ALL anticipated NON compliant engines.
I suspect the same situation will arise across the country for the first events of the 2015 championship season and especially before the ARRC and other high profile races.
Not sure what the solution is here, but it might make sense for drivers (or engine builders) who suspect that their engines are non-compliant to waive points for the VIR SARRC event as it is this coming weekend (too soon to rectify any issues) or maybe you have some other ideas to resolve this issue.
None of us want to see an important race go non-attended or to go to another event where a whole bunch of drivers are protested and tossed.
Obviously the SMAC, CRB and SCCA have to make some quick decisions as this situation might just spiral out of control. When I say there are some pissed drivers, do not think that this is a small subset of SM drivers, This is serious and it is across the board. This is NOT going away anytime soon.
Sorry to drop this in your lap as I depart for Australia for two weeks. I will chime in when I can.
