There is a lot of VERY PISSED OFF chatter out there with drivers seriously considering WITHDRAWING from the the upcoming VIR SARRC, which is the first event of the 2015 SARRC season, due to the perceived disadvantage of running against drivers powered with engines that are NON compliant. Some are talking about NOT running, and some are already talking about protesting ALL anticipated NON compliant engines.

I suspect the same situation will arise across the country for the first events of the 2015 championship season and especially before the ARRC and other high profile races.

Not sure what the solution is here, but it might make sense for drivers (or engine builders) who suspect that their engines are non-compliant to waive points for the VIR SARRC event as it is this coming weekend (too soon to rectify any issues) or maybe you have some other ideas to resolve this issue.

None of us want to see an important race go non-attended or to go to another event where a whole bunch of drivers are protested and tossed.

Obviously the SMAC, CRB and SCCA have to make some quick decisions as this situation might just spiral out of control. When I say there are some pissed drivers, do not think that this is a small subset of SM drivers, This is serious and it is across the board. This is NOT going away anytime soon.

Sorry to drop this in your lap as I depart for Australia for two weeks. I will chime in when I can.

I am just a bystander for this event, but in light of the ruling at the Runoffs, assuming nothing gets changed rule wise in the short term, I would suggest any attendees run compliant heads.  The GCR states cars must be compliant to regulations at all times.  Protest can be made whether running for points or not.

James, I am not racing the event but I personally would prefer to race all cars, even with non-compliant motors. I would love to race a full field rather than a dramatically reduced field. On the other hand I would prefer not to start a championship season losing points to a questionable car.

The chatter is across all teams, tents, etc. There are serious concerns on all sides of the fence.

Put a stock head on and go run and have fun. If you don't place well you don't get torn down. If you do place well then you get torn down and shown to be running a stock head, then the points made for years on this forum that it isn't the pro build making guys fast but good driving making guys fast will be made in spades. If you run a stock head and don't finish well, and the promise of guys getting torn down goes through, and the assumption that 95% of cars are in violation is true, then you will find yourself on the podium with a win and the points after they are torn down and DQ'd.

Go race and have fun. Isn't this what this is all about?

Nice try Webb ;)  You're going to have to deal with us at the ARRC, buddy.  I can't do anything for this weekend, but we'll be loaded for bear with razor sharp plunge cuts and 9.49999 and 9.99999 CR at the ARRC!

I will not be coming as I am not changing out a perfectly good head I have other things I can be doing!  Glad to hear you will have things righted by then, hell 75% of the cars at that event have your engine, so lots of work for you between now and then!

Dan. Racing the ARRC without you would not be the same. I take my hat off to you for taking this on the chin in the way you are. Look forward to seeing you at the ARRC.

I'm planning to come down to hang out on Sat. and get a feel for SEDiv. Finally, got the car together and aiming for the Roebling School in Feb/March. I also need to grab a new Hoosier, as my first run/shake down of the car had a bad tire.  <_<  Hopefully some you folks will be there.

Danny, you make a great point. I'm signed up for the VIR event and since I've never been there I was fired up and looking forward to it for months! However, I'm not really interested in waiving points (i.e. keeping score), I'm not interested in running a potentially non compliant car, and I have no spare head or time to have it installed. So I really have no choice but to stay home. I suspect others will do the same.

Maybe I will spend the weekend looking for a donor head and hoping I don't have to use it.
