I'm an outsider to club motorsports, so I apologize if this is off base. It seems like a reasonable portion of the problem with ensuring compliance comes down to having detail oriented people in tech. Over the last few weeks that I've been reading here I've seen comments ranging from inspectors having no idea what to look for to not having a solid grasp on the abilities (or lack thereof) of the tools they're using.

I've surmised that their used to be a roaming compliance group. Are there mechanisms in SCCA/NASA/local race organizations to put together an informal version of this concept? Regional mechanically inclined groups of people familiar with these cars (and maybe other common classes (FF,FC,SRF,etc) that can actually gain a knowledge base of what to look for?

I have to think that a lot of racers have friends that might not be able to afford to race, but know their way around an engine bay and wouldn't mind hanging out with the cool kids every couple weekends. I know I'd be game.

Dumb trackday kid.
