Has anyone made homemade slip plates that work? I'm not using these to measure caster. Just to allow some movement while I adjust toe with the car on the ground. What I'm noticing is that the tie rods will start to spin backwards due to the bind in the tires. Will two pieces of stainless with a dab of grease in the middle work? If yes, what gauge? Is another material preferable?

I have used cheap $1.00 or less linoleum tiles from the hardware store. I put some grease in between them and then throw them away when done.

Yes you can make slip plates very easily with 2 pieces of sheet metal with greese between the plates.

I've used them for years - in fact I cut down some to fit into gallon zip lock bags - When I'm done they go back in the bag and into the scale box keeps eveything clean and the grease dosn't dry out.

I just use heavy duty garbage bags.
Not pretty but they work fine.

I used 2 industrial tiles from Lowe's (66c each) and a nice layer of salt between them..less mess, and no grease

+1 on the linoleum tiles.
Spring the extra few cents for the thicker commercial ones. Grease or plastic trash bags seem to work equally well for me. The bags are cleaner.

I use the linoleum tiles with grease in the middle and get some big zip locks and put it all in there keeps the grease where you want it and still remains slippy.

Must be at home, no one (nick) ever throws anything away at the shop, LOL

I stubbled on the white particle board shelving stuff. 2 pieces slide nicely on each other and we all have a lot of it in our garages.

So if you're using slip plates like these, does that eliminate the need to roll and bounce the car when doing setup?

Good question I use slip plates and I am still rolling and bouncing, do I need to to all that on ride height, camber and toe??

Also I cheaped out on my turn plates, i quite using the tiles and just take the one gallon zip lock bags with a little oil in them, zip them back up and walla slick as snot.
