The rumors are over. The deal's been done. Mid Ohio's been sold. Here's the link to the Mansfield journal 3/3/11 article. The Trueman family has sold this great racing facility to two big hitter racing promotors. This will (hopefully) bode well for continued great racing at M/O in the future.

P.S. I wonder if the new owners will let my dog come in? :)

Mid-O was a passion for Jim Trueman, it was a business to his heirs.

I hope this means long overdue facility improvements.

Kim Green has been around racing a long time. Her late husband Barry Green was the owner of Team Kool Green that Paul Tracy drove for forever. I imagine these guys have as much passion for the sport as any other die-hard owner might.

In addition to my Spec Miata addiction, i also coordinate track events (DE and Club race) t for the Mid-Ohio Region PCA and have been doing business with MO for years. I called my contact at the track and as the news has reported they will be keeping the same personal for track operations, the home office in Dublin, and the Mid-Ohio School. Its my understanding that the new owners while vary active in the sport and running races have never owned a track, Not a bad thing per se, just that they will retain the current structure and any changes made will be a step at a time. All in all I think its a positive thing.

Do not see much of a change in 2011.

we will find out the end of this year when we negotiate next years track time to see if it going cost us.

The Kim Green that just bought Mid-O is Barry Green's brother.

Late husband? Do you mean ex husband? Last I heard (last year's Indianapolis 500, Tracy's strategist) Barry Green is alive and well. Did I miss a memo?

I would hope they would improve things. It definitely hasn't been the same since Jim died. I think that was the last coat of paint for much of the facility! Bring it on Team Green!

Ok, obviously, I've been breathing too many fumes. Who am I thinking of that passed away several years ago and his wife took over? I could've sworn it was Green, but obviously that was wrong. And no, I'm not thinking of DEI. Indycar team for sure.

Well aware of that chap, making a point. B) Point being Barry Green isn't pushing up daisies at this point.

What Sphinx must be thinking about is Michelle's dad, Jim Trueman. He died some 20-25 yeas ago. I haven't raced there for 8 years or so but it could use some modernization. Hopefully that won't come at the expense of the character of the place. I reckon with NASA there for the next couple of years I may make it next season.

You might be thinking of Kim and Debbie Gregory of USA Racing - unlimited hydroplane racing team?

Truth is the track has actually been kept in reasonably good physical condition. It was totally resurfaced about three years ago, the garages are in good repair and the padocks are rather good. My only gripe (beyond the no pets rule:) was the 2010 decision to skip repaving the driveway leading to impound and applying gravel instead. Really nice on hot race tires! Although I think I made weight at least once last year due to the excess pick up!
