Ha!

My car does have a few sensors on it. 2 oil temps, 1 transmission temp, oil pressure, fuel pressure, brake pressure, throttle position, steering, air temp, IR brake temps, IR tire temps (4 per rear tire, 1 per front tire), shock pots, 4 wheel speeds, crankcase pressure, and GPS. Then there are lots of math channels in RS2. I'm working on some TPMS sensors now. There is lots to learn about/with tire pressures!

That's turning the dial to ELEVEN!!!!!

Matt,

I was wondering if you'd be willing to share info on trans oil and engine oil temps.  What kind of temps are you seeing in your typical 20 min race at xx* ambient temps?  I suppose it is somewhat related to water temp as well.

I haven't found any info on that when I search.

Thanks.

My data that I can share is not from a Miata, so I can't give you typical Miata info. Your engine and trans builder should be able to give you the temps he would like to see though. In general, you want engine and trans temps 180-200*F if possible. However, not a lot of cars will run that. My 914 will run engine temps coming out of the motor over 275 if you are really beating it on a hot day. I've seen transmissions temps north of 250*F as well.

I will say that things like cryo treatment, REM polishing, and different oils/lubes will make a big difference in temps.
