I'm having the head done on my '94 and I'm looking for a source for the Kia lifters. $40 each through Mazda ain't gonna happen. I've looked through rockauto's website and can't determine if the ones they have are OEM. Who has OEM Lifters at a reasonable price? TIA Steve

I will tell you aftermarket lifters are a crap shoot. From the $7 to $25 have yet to find ones that havent failed!

Best ones I've found?? The original ones!! Not sure if its smart or not but I took them apart, cleaned them, and back in they went...0 problems in 4 years!!  Almost a 100% guarentee that at least 1 aftermaket one on any given NA build will take a shit!

I got some from an ebay vendor. Straight out of the box, some are working OK while others were, and are still, quite noisy.

Do you still clean them if they fail the test procedure in the FSM?  If so, do they pass or continue to fail after being cleaned?

Thanks.

Sorry Alberto...I'm not that careful. I just figured after 15 years of oil changes there might be some junk inside so I cleaned them out and put them back together. Only time they make noise(very little) is when I've neglected changing the oil. I assume no noise is good so I dont worry what the FSM says ;)

No protest, parts may be sourced from alternate sources. The lifters are made by Mazda, for Kia and are exactly the same part for 1/2 the price.
