This past weekend, Ann and I attended the MSX Expo in association with the SCCA National Convention. Wonderful event that I would recommend everyone attend next year.

The event was put on by non-other than Spec Miata's own Mike "Meathead" Collins as part of his day job. MazdaSpeed had the largest booth with 3 representatives from California, Scott Kalluza, Steve Saunders and David Cook. Along with factory Mazda drivers Tom Long (Tudor Prototype driver) and Liam Dwyer (Continental Challenge driver). They brought along a pair of race simulators along with the SEMA show car MX5 Global Cup race car.

2 full days of racing seminars are included with the Expo. Topics ranged from data, to aerodynamics, to mental attitude. Speakers included Randy Pobst, Tom Long and Elliot Forbes-Robinson (EFR).

The highlight of the event was the hour long Spec Miata seminar on Saturday afternoon. Hosted by Mike Collins. Marc Ceffalo (Planet Miata) and myself filled in for the unavailable Tom Fowler. About 75 attendees enjoyed the lively discussion on the past, present and future of Spec Miata. Which lasted an extra hour, when the cleaning crew kicked us out of the exhibit hall. There are pictures on our facebook page

It was great getting to know Marc and his wife-to-be Nicole better. We all enjoyed a great dinner on Friday night. Lots of good wine, great food and great conversation with the Mazda reps. Thanks again Mike.

Everyone should make the effort to attend next years MSX Expo. I hear the weather will be better.

I was there on Friday but missed Saturday to go to a friend's wedding in Atlanta.

What were the highlights of the Spec Miata seminar?

Great show. The exhibit hall keeps attracting more exhibitors every year. The speakers are top quality and the chance to network is amazing. As soon as it's official I'll post the location and dates for next year.
