This is a little weird as there are more B-Spec cars signed up for the Majors event at Pacific Raceways then Spec Miata.  Is there a weird curse on the place or something which is keeping the SM crowd away?

Derrick, I went up to a great track atThunderhill for the Majors race and I think there were only 8 SM's registered....most of the local racers didn't bother to come out and play.

The track time schedule was a qualifying and race on Sat. and a 10 min practice and 40 minute race on Sunday. I wasn't able to make the practice on Friday but I think that was an additional $150.00    Four times on the track for $575.00 if I remember correctly and a 14 hour tow on top of that. I also think that because the runoffs are in Daytona might have something to do with it.

Screw the Majors.  I went to Thunderhill last year and there was a lot of open cheating going on.  I pointed it out and they refused to do anything.  I tried to protest the stewards and they refused that.  When I complained to national SCCA they told me to learn how to drive.  At that point I decided maybe the Majors program was screwed up.

I think what they found out at the runoffs makes my point quite well.

You won't find me anywhere near a Majors race and won't find me at many SCCA races.  I will choose Conference whenever possible.  They get it.

Remember awhile back in one of the parity threads the discussion of cold air intakes? Well, that weekend at Thunderhill there was some super secret testing going on. In an effort to try and help the NA cars keep up with the NB cars any gaps in the driver headlight cover 1" or under were given a pass...some didnt get the memo obviously. Turns out it didnt help much and all those guys still finished mid-pack were they normally did :(

Actually, one of the top four cars and a total of five in the top twenty were part of this "secret testing".  The other part I just couldn't figure out was how my absolutely legal overbore Loynings engine was getting walked away from on the straights.  But we know that answer now also.  They were part of a super secret test which had to do with illegal plunge cuts in the head, over-chamfering, and certain polishing techniques.  Turns out the test involved just about every part of the nation except Oregon.  They forgot to tell us that cheating was the accepted way to win.  Sure soured me on the subject.

It looks like a lot of the SCCA regulars are coming out for the Spec Miata Championship of the World at Pacific this weekend instead.

It's a really fun track, but it does have a reputation for obliterating cars.

I already said it but to be specific:  A number of people had illegal heads.  And yes, a number of them were from California.  Remember the big mess at the runoffs?  I think that horse is dead.

This is getting boring so I will sign off.

I don't recall any heads being pulled at that event.  I guess they received a DQ then upon inspection?  I can't remember.

What were the cheats being used?

Had to be more than just the short turn radius deal from Runoffs because whatever they were doing looks to be worth about 4 seconds a lap

i thought the radius being .5mm out of spec and the polishing and the .05 chamfer was worth 5 seconds a lap?
